Yeah I am thinking the same thing. The seasons these kids have are so long.
Yeah it’s alright either way imo.

Always good to see them play and it seems like Lias is going strong somehow despite being at the end of a marathon season.

On the other hand they both need to rest a little and then get to work on certain aspects of their games if they want to make the jump for real next year.

playing at Worlds is good experience and makes good connections;
then a few weeks off, before Prospect Camp,
then 2 months til Traverse City
i don't think its too much for young guys

Probably with a bit of time off and then a reduced schedule with built in recovery time to build strength, work on skills and skating, etc, they'll hopefully be in good shape for camp. It's when that build time is interrupted by lots of other stuff that I think the time gets wasted

it wouldn't kill lias or chytil to go home and get some rest at this point. both have had a whirlwind year. Rest up then start rebuilding. chytil needs to add muscle and lias needs to get with a skating instructor the sooner the better. of course would like to see them both in this tourney but again wouldn't hurt either on of them at this point to go rest up and get ready to start training for the varsity

Lias already has someone who is helping him improve his skating. And Chytil is already doing the right things to bulk up, but he's just 18 years old. If they get the chance to play in the worlds, they should do it because it is a great experience, playing at that level at that age

No one said they should pass on it. Said wouldn’t be worst thing if they went home at this point to train. You can’t build during the season. Lias isn’t working on his skating during the season nor is Chytil growing in the gym during the season. All you can do during the season is try and maintain what you have. Hard enough to do that.

Good for pionk, but honestly how on earth is he picked for this?
The rest of the defense named so far isn't all that impressive, the best one there is Alec Martinez, and the only other two I remember off the top of my head are Will Butcher and Quinn Hughes

Edit: the defense is Martinez, Butcher, Pionk, Hughes, Connor Murphy, Jordan Oesterle, and Nick Jensen

I’m really confused about who is eligible for this. How are those possibly the best d available?

Uhhhhhh....he was pretty impressive down the stretch given 1st pairing matchups for a complete greenhorn. He’ll be on the squad in October for sure.
Yeah I’m not saying he’s horrible but there are a lot of far better American d men who aren’t in the playoffs

Yeah, I think Shattenkirk decided not to go to get his knee up to 100%, and then off the top of my head Eric Johnson's hurt, Werenski, Jones and J Johnson just played a full season of Tortorella hockey and got knocked out of the playoffs a few days ago, Fowler's hurt too
