Been on vacation in kamloops the past few days. Watched this game on and off at a bar.
wtf were those idiots doing out there tonight. Did blowing that 3-1 lead to the Habs mind f*** this team?

Maybe they should covert Marner into a D like Karlsson.
1. He will be RHD
2. He will QB the PP and let Spezza comes in for Reilly
3. Since he can’t really score, a D man with single digit goals and over 70assists is a very good Dman.
4. He plays over 22 mins anyway.
5. He can’t possibly be worse than Holl in the back.
I would trade him for cap space.

If the team misses the playoffs it is a foregone decision (I would hope). If the team loses in the 1st round I think they all need to go too; do they? Or do they give this management team a chance to change the core and see that through?
That's what we thought in Detroit during the Matt Millen disgrace and it went on another 2 or 3 years. Ended up having a local radio station put up billboards demanding his firing, bags on fans heads, security chasing people in the stadium with signs, and didn't finally happen until the owner's son, who isn't even a football fan, shamed his father on public radio for allowing it to continue.

You never know with these loser organizations. But yes lets hope this is it.

Nothing to do but just laugh. This grand plan to rebuild the team the 'right way' after years of failure from JFJ, Burke and Nonis, only for it to be an even bigger and more painful disappointment of a team. What a waste of time the last 17 years has been cheering for this pathetic club.

hey at least this site gives the warning of "error 520"

dubas and dubasites on the other hand.....

That Error 520 guy is f***ing clutch at the draft though. The only player that can be taken more than once!

Leafs should try picking him. If he's all over the ice the way he's all over the draft you got a KEEPER.

The lack of accountability on this team is inexcusable. This starts and ends with Matthews, Marner, Tavares and Nylander (although he has been relatively great). If there is a lack of effort, drive and production, these players should not be exempt from being held accountable. This can take various forms but the coddling culture is just embarrassing. As an organization, we are literally scared of holding our top guys accountable. It feels like we are just going through the motions.

For me, I want my leadership group to reflect the guys whose effort I want others to emulate. I feel like the ‘A’s’ and ‘C’ were just handed out to those who are our most talented players. Honestly, Spezza’s effort and compete day in and day out warrants him to have the ‘C’. There is no one in my books right now who is worthy of an ‘A’. It’s about having some pride in your effort and in team success, not just your individual stats and $$$. I know it’s an overreaction, but needed to clear my mind. Cheers.

Thing is, they had a plan and were building the right way. Young squad with tons of potential. The future looked great!

Then they totally abandon it. Put a rookie GM in charge who hired a rookie coach. This is the Toronto Maple Leafs! Hire some qualified people to handle things. The city and the fans deserve it.

if lou was still running things, you'd guys would have a cup by now.

say what you want about him being old, and old school; he knows how to properly run an NHL team, and get the most out of its talent.

plenty of teams in the league have highly skilled core players, but there is a very limited number teams that have a skilled front office to complete the whole thing.

dubas has been in over his head since day one. I'm not saying this trying to be a troll, I'm talking as a fan of hockey. It's obvious he doesn't know what he's doing, and should have never been given the keys to run this team

Lack of accountability you say?

Maybe Tavares needs another cottage meeting. He means "business" this year!!!

Expectations are dangerous, and so is hope.

seeing lily get benched after playing so well in his 1st game gave me a bad vibe, havent watched much since. every single player should be accountable and if they arent performing they shouldnt be playing(including marner tavares, holl etc).
people should get on board the scottie barnes train, raps are fun to watch and always fight tooth and nail and dont make me sad.

Kucherov Tavares. He needs months to rest. Robidas island for Muzzin. Waive Holl. Use the cap space to improve. Trade assets like picks and prospects .........oh right, we really don't have a lot left. Maybe the only solution is an actual hockey trade. :dunno:

I think it went to shit the moment our young players decided to put the team hostage and demanded every dollar out of them. We've lost all our depth as a result, starting from Brown, Kapanen and finally Hymen.

It's all business and I get it but their decision will come at the price of this fanbase turning on them because of the bitterness. That's just how it works if you don't back those demands up with success. It's still early this year but I just don't see how this team is improved. It's not and they're not good enough to win. This team just doesn't have IT.

Mitch may be right that they know what they did wrong, but it's the same thing they've been doing wrong for years, and neither the players and the coach seem to think it needs fixing.

What is wrong? Let me give it a shot.

Down 7-1 and Liljegen carries the puck through the neutral zone, last man back. Knowing that both Toronto goalies have had a rough night and the game is lost the easy, smart thing to do is just dump it in. No need to be Superman, just keep it simple and avoid any more turnovers that'll make the night even worse for poor Hutch.

But no, he decides to try and deke out two Pens forwards, loses the puck and it's a 2-on-1 against almost making it 8-1.

Less than 2 minutes later Engvall does the same thing in the Leafs zone.

And the response is ... nothing. Unless I'm mistaken, Keefe doesn't bench either player for the rest of the game just to send a message, it's just "oh well." And to me is symptomatic of how broken this team is. They continually make selfish, completely idiotic plays with no accountability. So the bad habits more than just accepted, they are now ingrained in this team.

I'm convinced that Liljegren (or any other Leaf, besides perhaps Spezza and one or two others), would do the exact same thing if they were up 7-1, tied 2-2 or in overtime in a playoff game.

My answer to the problem is simple: Any time, any player makes such a brutal, bonehead play, he's stapled to the bench for at least the rest of the period if not the game. Force the bad habits out until they learn.

If Sheldon has lost the room, it's more than just because of all the f-bombs, it's likely because the players see a total lack of accountability. It's probably too late for Keefe to change that, but when he's fired Dubas needs to find a coach willing to give some tough love or he's gone too.

Lou started that too with trading for Boyle and Turtleneck in back to back year.
Hainsey was good bc the D needed help but Marleau seemed to be a rush decision but st the time, we thought he would be trading JVR away to get assets.

The players wanted the earlier start on Friday to be ready for Saturday’s game in Pittsburgh?! . I wish I was making this up.
