I never thought we'd trade Drys, at least not this early in his career. Huge shocker...I'm pretty sad honestly, even if Gauthier is going to be awesome. I understand it makes sense in multiple ways but I think I'm also sad for Z since he and Drys seemed to be pretty close.

I don't hate it everyone knew one of the young d-men had to get moved for a young forward and I always kind of assumed it would end up being Drysdale, I'm personally higher on Zellweger in the long run and I don't think Verbeek wanted multiple small d-men and it seems like he too is higher on Zellweger, it is what it is one of them had to get moved and we got a fantastic prospect in return.

Plus you know there are lots of great D-men in the top 10 this year likely with higher ceilings than all of our D except for maybe Minty if we want to grab another one.

Gauthier is from Scottsdale. Worse case we flip him for 1st and Crouse. Or move him for Cooley and a 2nd and move up even further in the 2022 draft.

I guess moving up still counts even a couple years later... LOL!

Agreed. I feel the Samuelis may actually not like that even though they are hands off. He brings a lot of attention to Anaheim and even more when we are inevitably good again.

And I can't wait for Gauthier to say he won't sign with us either, because...hey, why not, historical precedent.
