Tbh this is not as bad when I read it. Just this answer-wise, I see not much problem with it. Is it edgy? Hell yeah :laugh: but also, there is a logic. Perhaps not to say that thing about the hole, but it is not THAT bad imo :laugh:

Just seeing this now after getting up. Holy hell. Like, what the f***? I love Jamie and feel immensely bad for him. Let's just hope Gauthier really signs with us, otherwise PV might very well be on the way out.

Seravalli will likely talk quite a bit about this on the live show he does every morning at 9am PST. He is based in Philly, so I won’t be surprised if he dishes some extra info we haven’t heard yet.

If you still find him reliable after his many, many flubs. Gibson still looks good in a Ducks jersey.

Have to give to get.
Traded from a developing strength to develop a organizational weakness.

If he develops to projections, with our setup guys, he could be just what we need.

If Drysdale stays healthy, this could be tough to swallow. If they hit their projections it’s a good hockeyvtrade, but it makes me nervous

I am probably one of the biggest Drysdale pumpers on this website. He has tremendous skills and being so young, the upside is huge IMO.

That being said, while he's flashed 1D level skills, the injuries have really hampered his development. And he has often been very poor in his own zone. Not surprising for such a young guy, but then you compare him to Minty and realize Minty > Drysdale at this point. Maybe Dry figures it out and becomes a #1 - it wouldn't shock me. But there's also a real possibility he ends up being a one dimensional Tyson Barrie type of player.

I don't know anything about Gauthier. Seems like an exciting prospect. Given the ducks depth and Gauthier's high value, the Ducks had to give to get. I'm ok with this trade.

I like this trade a lot. The Ducks have a lot of young defensemen, most of them puck movers. At least one had to go. The Ducks did not have a lot of scoring potential among their forwards. Now they do.

I guess I don't see any way that Drysdale has 1D potential. I love the way he skates, but he was never going to produce enough offense to overcome his lack of physicality and defensive prowess. I think his ceiling is a slightly better Fowler. Drysdale can be a good 2D on a contender. I enjoyed watching him and I wish him the best, but I don't see the Ducks regretting moving on.

Of course, there's risk that Gauthier's game doesn't translate, or an unthinkable scenario where he doesn't sign. But that seems remote. All of the analysis I've read from national pundits think the Ducks came out ahead in the deal.

What folks don't understand is. Jamie and Z were really close. PV made this move to not only address the scoring but also as a wake up call to the entire team to not feel comfortable

I don't disagree with that. I said before he might trade a guy like Jones who was loved by his teammates. Drysdale could have the same effect but as opposed to a Jones scenario, it wasn't the main goal.

Jones is gone. I said this long ago. PV doesn't like players with a lot of injury problems. It's way he lowballed Lindholm and Manson and ran them out.

I wouldn't be surprised but I think he might have some intangibles that keeps him around. Those 2 had value. Jones doesn't have trade value, but might have morale and compete value.

It's a pretty jarring trade, but confused at the 2025 2nd round pick heading to Philly. Drysdale's a proven product at the NHL level while Cutter is still a prospect.

We just got Drysdale back and he was looking great on the ice with each game he played. He's also more physical than before. We have a top-pairing RD going forward. Then we trade him. bleah.

TBF, losing Drysdale after the first two games and the defense not looking too lost without Drysdale might have helped Verbeek think of the possibility of trading Drysdale.

I don't believe Luneau's limited game play was the reason behind Drysdale getting traded. The only RD prospect we have in the AHL is Helleson and I don't think he's ready for the NHL in any top-4 capacity. The other RD's are Warren and Moore. Warren definitely is year away from the NHL. Moore is a junior in the NCAA (Harvard) who has been out of the lineup due to LBI. We currently don't have a top-4 RD on the horizon today after Luneau. Note, GM Verbeek prefers defensemen playing on their shooting side, which excludes LaCombe, Zellweger, and Hinds.

A factor not discussed is how vet RD Lyubushkin has looked good in Anaheim, always tethered to rookie Minty and a staple on the PK unit. Trading Lyubushkin probably is off the table now. Extending Lyubushkin for a year or two would be ideal.

==========
1-goal games
==========

  • 1-goal games, after 39 games
    • Last year
      • 1-goal games = 16
        Record = 9-3-4 (22 pts)
    • This year
      • 1-goal games = 18
        Record = 7-10-1 (15 pts)

I have no effing idea what Verbeek is trying to spew with his 18 one-goal games stat. We were a better team last year in one-goal game scenarios in our first 38 games and AINEC in end productions.

Our lack of scoring while adding more talent at across the board this year is very perplexing. Doubt Verbeek wants to identify that he might have made a mistake in coaching. Of course, adding another goal scorer next season could help, especially a North/South PF like Cutter b/c he fits the dump-n-chase mold like Mac.

===============================
Verbeek wanted Cutter at the 2022 NHL Draft
===============================

Verbeek saying he was eyeballing Cutter and trying to trade for him in the 2022 draft is a head scratcher.

2021-22 US NTDP, top 10 scorers.png

Cutter is listed at 6'2 and 194 lbs.

See that player underneath Cutter. That's Snuggerud. He's a 6'2, 187 lbs RW. He went 23rd overall, one pick after the Ducks drafted C Gaucher. Both Cutter and Snuggerud were NCAA bound.

Cutter
D+1: 32 games - 16g + 21a = 37 pts
D+2: 17 games - 13g + 10a = 23 pts

Snuggerud
D+1: 40 games - 21g + 29a = 50 pts
D+2: 20 games - 16g + 6a = 22 pts

It's crazy that Verbeek could have easily chosen Snuggerud in the draft if he wanted to add scoring to the org, especially if he watched Cutter since they both were on the same US NTDP team. We really needed top-6 scoring and Snuggerud (as well as Kulich) were there for the taking. Verbeek is fortunate enough to already have Drysdale onboard to facilitate a trade.

=============
Cutter the prospect
=============

I don't know much about him. I know he was a fast riser in the 2022 draft b/c of his size. Another forward who also rose due to his size was Marco Kasper. I think Verbeek might have been on Kasper in the draft too, but he went two picks ahead of us. A huge contingent of smaller, scoring forwards dropped like Savoie, Nazar, Lekkerimaki, and Kemell.

At the recent WJC-20, there's a couple of rave reviews about him. There's a lot of research needed on my part, but at a minimum, Cutter will be a top-6 winger.
