I thought this was an impressive sequence from Trouba.

Decent debut. But I'm not going to fawn over a performance against a team that is only 2 spots in the standings ahead of us.
Want to see what he plays like against faster, and frankly better teams.
I would not put to much stock into it, although I do hope I am wrong.Decent debut. But I'm not going to fawn over a performance against a team that is only 2 spots in the standings ahead of us.

Trouba is 30 years old man. He’s not some washed up player. He mentally had probably been checked out for some time now with the rangers. Also, last year he had an ankle injury thag rangers fans said clearly affected him in the playoffsI would not put to much stock into it, although I do hope I am wrong.
New coach syndrome or new environment syndrome are a real thing, and very few players are, at his age, capable of becoming better versions of themselves. In overwhelming number of cases, it's not even close, players are who they are at this point in their careers.
At 30 years old professional athletes are who they are. If they also started declining, there's no going back in vast majority of cases. Hockey is not exemption to this, although, from my observation, it does seem an exemption to the amount of hopeful recclamation projects there are.Trouba is 30 years old man. These are literally the same insiders who were discussing how badly Zegras was struggling, not having fun, and clearly needed a change of scenery whilst he was in the middle of his hot streak."Insiders" already saying they think Trouba will be flipped (with retention) this season to a team back East. I dont see that happening. I mean, I get his wife and kid stayed back in NY so she could finish her residency, so if they moved him to BUF, NJD, NYI, BOS, PHI, I guess it could make sense, but he already turned down CBJ which is closer to NY than a lot of teams.
I fully expect him to play out this season in Anaheim and back back for next year. Maybe he gets traded next year if we decide to not resign him, but I have to assume that part of him accepting a trade here was contingent on not sending him somewhere else. He seems to appreciate stability for he and his family, and likely already has or is building plans for his wife and kid to join him in SoCal as soon as her residency is done.
I know, a lot of speculation on my part, but thats just what seems to make sense.
I'm not sure if trade clause necessarily transfers after the player has been traded. I think it depends on weather Trouba waived to allow the trade to Anaheim, and if he did, Anaheim can decide to either honor the clause or not. I'm not a 100% on this but we may not know weather the clause is still in place. These are literally the same insiders who were discussing how badly Zegras was struggling, not having fun, and clearly needed a change of scenery whilst he was in the middle of his hot streak.
Trouba still has his NTC. It’s up to him.
I believe the clause transfers with the player even if he waves. The wave is considered to only be a one time exception made by the player. I think I read that somewhere.I'm not sure if trade clause necessarily transfers after the player has been traded. It used to be once it was waived it was waived, but a couple years ago it was changed to where it’s only waived for that one trade, then goes back into effect.I'm not sure if trade clause necessarily transfers after the player has been traded.
