Adam Fox literally is this team. Without him, we’d probably be an under .500 team. So much of our identity was absent last night. The lack of unpredictability in the offensive zone, inability to get up ice, the abysmal powerplay, etc.

Our d-men really sucked all night.

Under .500 without Fox belongs in the Hall of Fame for hot air.

I dont like a few players on the team. Yeah, so what? You bitch and moan endlessly and tell people how to feel about the entire team. You’re the man. Just dont f***ing watch. Do us all a solid if you hate the team so much then dont watch. The negativity is nauseating.

And L.o.f***ing.l. You thinking you are “right” about something, let alone the “reasons” why we shouldnt have signed Panarin. Most laughable thing I have read in awhile on here. Panarin was a total mistake to sign. LOL buddy. This is becoming a clown show here.

Becoming?

Players like Panarin at 28 years old are available as free agents once a generation. You sign him.

That’s all.

The rangers could not have known they’d be getting a first overall pick left winger when they locked up Panarin and Kreider.

You don’t not lock up two of the best wingers in the nhl for what you *might* have years from now in a draft class.

Panarin may not be having a career year, but he’s still elite in this league and playing up to the value of his contract. He’s the opposite of a bad signing.

We’re stacked on the left side if Laf gets good, but that’s a good problem to have.
No, you don't. Not a year after you send out a letter to your fan base preaching patience and the process. That's like going out and buying a Ferrari just because you can afford it even though you're still figuring out how to build the foundation. There's not one team in recent history who has got the high priced free agent BEFORE their top prospects had established themselves as the leaders of the team. This team has been built around vets and the First and Second overall picks we've made are afterthoughts.

Like I said, you’re a hypocrite. Your negativity about Chytil and Strome is also nauseating. Why not just give it a rest? You bitch and moan endlessly about these players and tell people how to feel about them. You can’t give it a rest, because you’re a hypocrite. Those guys are gonna play, so don’t watch - right?

yes, he was a mistake to sign. Rebuilding teams shouldn’t sign win now players. It’s directing impacting the growth of their young forwards. He’s already not the same player he was in his first two seasons here, you can see it. He doesn’t have a direct game to game impact anymore. His goals are way down. The Rangers aren’t winning this year and he’ll be another year older next season.

Panarin at a 100 point pace shows just how much he has deteriorated. He should be tossed to get more Gauthier.

Can we conceivably be out of playoff position after the 2 week break? All the other teams around us resume play after the all star break. Pens, Caps, Canes, Leafs and Bruins all will gain on us or surpass us in GP. The latter 3 have games in hand on us.

No, we can't be.

It should be Gettinger Barron Gauthier/Greco for the 4th line next game. McKegg Brodz Gauther is comically bad

We need a burner like Greco to add a little spark to the lineup, i think hes a perfect fit for the strome line but they'll never use him there.

We are very good competitors. We are contenders w/handful teams better and a few = to us. We need to improve and add from within, not make ridiculous expensive overreach win now adds.

Our point total is fools gold. We won a lot of games we had no reason winning. I've said it before but we aren't a cup team until Laf and Kakko and our young D are ready, until that happens we're fooling ourselves. It sounds crazy to say but the best thing this year would be for us to not aquire anyone and let the kids get their minutes in playoffs.

It is NOT crazy, and feel encouraged to speak up vs win now faction. Deal Strome, give those mins to Chytil + Barron, then we are good when Krav gets here, which is essential to both giving ourselves a spark and to updating his value.

ps check out my prop on the main board about Strome to Avs...

This idea that there are only 2 or 3 contenders is so dumb. This is the hardest trophy to win in sports. You’re a top 10 team in the league you’re a contender

if you’re a top 5 or 6 team in the league and you’ve got cap space and assets coming out your ears you are DEFINITELY a contender and a buyer

Yup. The Blues were not a perfect team when they won either. They got hot, had hot goaltending and got all the breaks when they needed them, including CBJ taking out Tampa.

This year feels like a "Blues" year too me. The hot & lucky team is going to win but that could be any out of a number.

That said, there is no reason to go too crazy at the TDL and all the reason to keep the discipline and focus going to build correctly.

With our roster and where it is at development wise we simply might not keep up in the standings with those teams further along in the Cup race . It would not matter who was coaching them if they did not have the horses to send over the boards when needed . You can only get so much out of so few and if the stable is not full or not quite a finished product....what happens is you will fall behind in the race . That is when you have to look at the big picture and keep developing and increasing the quality of the stable . Many posters have mentioned we might need to take a step back to move forward . That is likely the best short term move in the long run for us while we wait to get rid of a few fat cats who are obviously well fed these days and don't bring the effort every game as needed......that's hardly on the coach who has all of 40+ games here .....and has us in 3rd in the Metro while playing so many on the road....

The coach is not the problem regardless of what the agenda presented by a few on here would like you to believe . Skip past those narrow minded views and replies....
Agree very very much the coach is not the issue at all. Some on here think they are nhl coaches..lol

Funny that you say that. This team misses Kakko much more than it does Panarin when he is out.
People don't get how good Kakko is in all zones. His offensive numbers are sub par, but the rest of his game is pretty damn good. Better than every other forward on this team.

This team isn't even close to being a contender and if Drury wastes assets chasing a cup this year he's a donkey. Save them for next year.
Agree. We are a playoff team as currently constructed but no more and that's fine at this point. Any attempt to have a playoff run that results in us giving up young, valuable assets would be a big mistake.

I agree with this strategy. Strome is not a long term piece, move him now. And go with what we have. Let the kids make mistakes and trust their talent.

Honestly tho what are we getting for Strome? Unless we are getting a decent young asset what is the point? We aren't getting a first and a good young player for him. Most likely we are gonna just have to ride the season with him then let him go. Not the end of the world.

Which ones? Zibanejad, Kreider, Buchnevich? They did.

Who else? Lias Anderson? Chytil? I don’t see how having Panarin on LW would’ve stunted the development of two prospects who could play center.

The rangers didn’t have Kakko and Laf on their team before getting Panarin. They didn’t know they were going to pick 1st and 2nd overall. They got rid of some older players, had some new ones coming up, and got lucky with draft picks and signing Fox.

They actually did have Kakko on their team before Panarin, he was signed after the draft. The fact still remains that there is no example of that working out in a rebuild. None of the teams who have won recently have signed a big name free agent for a large percentage of their cap. This team is built around him, not the 1st and 2nd overall picks.

Sorry no. But let me extend courtesy to answer your fair ?.
First off this is Strome. It is not like Draistil. We already did our splurge when we extended Zib long term [followed by Fox, which was expected]. So flipping the question, what are we really keeping? Answer: an average overall, with some warts on skating/defense, but an offensive plus. But he is sucking minutes from those we are inevitably replacing him, whose extra mins IMO likely lead to acceptable level offense and better defense. I understand Barron is doing well on faceoffs; we should encourage that w/mo mins. And of course, we need to be ready to add Krav, both for his likely offensive punch, and also to once and for all accurately update his value. Once his value is built up, whether we keep or trade, ok, but it is beyond stupid if Drury is allowed to go in another direction, keep Strome, jettison Krav at unacceptably low value, and by keeping Strome, set in motion a likely scenario where Kakko/LaF etc get dealt and not from a position of strength by us.
Second, what are we getting? Ideally a late 1st which is increased w/retain, but could be something like a 3rd this yr and a 2nd next. I would not pooh-pooh this so quickly. Remember Schneider? We traded up to get him. We could do that b'c we had sufficient picks. Adding more picks, not subtracting, gives us a stronger hand. And third, if you don't like who is there and want another option, it is likely you can trade a pick this year for a better pick next year or later down the road.
So all of that is signif enuf to take my approach.
