Amirov Medical Status: Update Oct 6: In Toronto, training with Leafs Staff

Amirov seems happy and on the mend on social media so hopefully he’s on the road to recovery and doing well.

I’m usually a huge Joe Bowen fan, but listening to the game while driving today, he mentioned Amirov and before saying anything that actually mattered(get well, this is horrible etc) he links it to another Leaf prospect that we drafted that had a heart murmur and never played again…then basically said leafs had bad luck with this stuff. Thought that was in poor taste and not necessary.

I'm not quite sure how you see that as being in poor taste, pointing out that the Leafs have encountered something similar before?

Yeah, I mean.....unless they think it's a slur against non-Canadians? Otherwise, it seems to be a harmless comment.

The way Bowen said it was more like "Why does this always happen to the leafs" type of way, as if that is an important comment to make.

Poor taste because it’s a human being having serious medical issues not getting a flat tire on the way to work

I don't think there was any outrage in my post.

I just didn't think a 'Woe is Me" type of tone or comment from Joe Bowen(regarding the Leafs) was really necessary or important.

agree to extend the loan of Rodion Amirov for one more season. Rodion is training and works with the coaches there on an individual basis. Rodion thanks management and the entire club. Says recovery is going great.

So great to hear. Just happy his health is looking up and he can enjoy his life.

Even though hockey is secondary, I am sure it helps that he can potentially play again.
