oh man just seeing this. This is terrible for a young person to go through. Here to a full and healthy recovery Amirov
I believe he is currently in Germany receivingI don't know if this will impact rodion, but with the amount of sanctions put on Russia, I hope he can travel to and from with ease to get the care he needs.
Luca Cereda I'm sure...but yes, in poor taste.I’m usually a huge Joe Bowen fan, but listening to the game while driving today, he mentioned Amirov and before saying anything that actually mattered(get well, this is horrible etc) he links it to another Leaf prospect that we drafted that had a heart murmur and never played again…then basically said leafs had bad luck with this stuff. Thought that was in poor taste and not necessary.
I'm sure the Leafs aren't cheaping out on this, and I'm sure that's why he's getting treatment in Germany not Russia. And, if it comes down to it, I'm sure they would send him to something like Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, Mass General, MD Anderson or Cleveland Clinic if it came down to it.
Any update on how this young man is doing?
Wishing nothing but the best for him.Last thing was reported was he was back in Russia - but will be going back for second round of treatment. Still battling

Pretty sure he completed his first round of treatment in Germany then back to Russia and will be going for his second round of treatment soon.Has anyone heard any new updates?
I remember all that stuff. Agree with you 100%Joe Bowen saw the Leafs lose a guy, that won us a Stanley Cup, in overtime, who could play the lead role in any Hollywood movie...
A guy carried around the ice, by fellow Maple Leafs.
Bill Barilko.
Joe Bowen saw one of greatest potential players in Leafs entire history go down with a freak knee injury in his first training camp, Gary Nylund.
Then Cereda, then Mirko Frycer, with the pressure of playing into toronto, jumps into a bottle. A story not many know.
Joe Bowen himself, knows the rats and lice behind the scenes that want us to listen to drones of communication.
So give the poor guy a pass, its criminal a great like this guy, has to take his historic voice and talent, and limit it to radio.
While the no talents, the lackeys, get to record themselves, weekly, such as Hughson, Simpson, heck all of them.
A minor historical correction: Joe Bowen was born 16 days before Barilko scored that famous Stanley Cup winning goal. I suppose that technically, it was possible he “saw” Barilko. But if he did, I doubt that it registered!
By the way, I’m the same vintage, born before Barilko decided to fly out to go fishing that year. and I didn’t see Barilko either. But I certainly agree that Leaf fans should learn about the history of this storied franchise, including about Barilko.
