Read what they are putting this kid under...

I have no beleaf in any recovery here, its circa 1245 ad imo.

Nuff and all said. As Don Cherry would say, rinky dink.

Gary Nylund, come on down.

I don't know if this will impact rodion, but with the amount of sanctions put on Russia, I hope he can travel to and from with ease to get the care he needs.

I believe he is currently in Germany receiving
treatment. Luckily they got him out of there in time.

I’m usually a huge Joe Bowen fan, but listening to the game while driving today, he mentioned Amirov and before saying anything that actually mattered(get well, this is horrible etc) he links it to another Leaf prospect that we drafted that had a heart murmur and never played again…then basically said leafs had bad luck with this stuff. Thought that was in poor taste and not necessary.

Luca Cereda I'm sure...but yes, in poor taste.

Joe Bowen saw the Leafs lose a guy, that won us a Stanley Cup, in overtime, who could play the lead role in any Hollywood movie...

A guy carried around the ice, by fellow Maple Leafs.

Bill Barilko.

Joe Bowen saw one of greatest potential players in Leafs entire history go down with a freak knee injury in his first training camp, Gary Nylund.

Then Cereda, then Mirko Frycer, with the pressure of playing into toronto, jumps into a bottle. A story not many know.

Joe Bowen himself, knows the rats and lice behind the scenes that want us to listen to drones of communication.

So give the poor guy a pass, its criminal a great like this guy, has to take his historic voice and talent, and limit it to radio.

While the no talents, the lackeys, get to record themselves, weekly, such as Hughson, Simpson, heck all of them.

Here is Bill. five years of life, all for the Leafs, won four cups.

Think he would be venerated by Leafnation and this board?

Best looking Toronto Maple Leaf of ALL TIME, and the only NHL hockey player, Gordie Howe was scared of going up against.

Hmmm, why doesn't this guy get the respect he deserves?

Why is there not a movie made bout him?

Lol. U answer that question..

Here is a treat. Hollywood good looks, but he could take anyone in the NHL out to the shed, and make a mess out of them.

Joe Bowen, spoke from the heart gang.

Five NHL seasons, four Stanley Cups.

I have a message, for anyone calling out Joe Bowen.

This huge talent, historic talent, with a contagious enthusiasm, matched by his talent, has had to listen, as all of us have, to no talent bums, express, vocally, the action on the ice.

He has held back, I dunno know how, from coming out and asking why oh why.

But on top of that, yes he has seen some great Maple Leafs fall to tragedy. It all started, with the only man, who scared the crap out of Gordie Howe.

How much would the Leafs presently pay for a guy, with tremendous good looks, skills and who scared the toughest thug in the NHL? Who won four Stanley Cups, in five seasons?

Well that guy would be unavailable.

And interestingly, why doesn't middle aged, old or even new Leafnation, know anything about this guy?

I'm sure the Leafs aren't cheaping out on this, and I'm sure that's why he's getting treatment in Germany not Russia. And, if it comes down to it, I'm sure they would send him to something like Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, Mass General, MD Anderson or Cleveland Clinic if it came down to it.

yup, the US would likely be the option because you can pay for service and get in quickly. I’m sure I’m Canada you can pull strings and get Amirov in, but I’m sure they’d likely go the US route.

I would assume Lennox Hill would be one of the top on the list.

Last thing was reported was he was back in Russia - but will be going back for second round of treatment. Still battling

Best of luck to him we should probably attempt to keep him out of Russia for treatment I can't imagine it's of the highest quality right now

A minor historical correction: Joe Bowen was born 16 days before Barilko scored that famous Stanley Cup winning goal. I suppose that technically, it was possible he “saw” Barilko. But if he did, I doubt that it registered!

By the way, I’m the same vintage, born before Barilko decided to fly out to go fishing that year. and I didn’t see Barilko either. But I certainly agree that Leaf fans should learn about the history of this storied franchise, including about Barilko.

Every time I poked my nose into this territory I got massive rejections. Despite healing myself from Terminal C.

Despite saving 40k lives.

So me, me very reluctantly, me stays mouse.

My favourite tidbit about Barilko, he wasn’t a great player but was so handsome the Leafs heavily marketed him to attract female fans.
