I appologize if this sounds ignorant but has an athlete with a similar procedure that Amirov has indured every returned to their sport successfully?

I followed Mario's battle with Hodgkin's lymphoma. Had a good friend who lost a relative to the same illness.
Not enough appreciation for Mario fighting that awful disease and the success he returned with.
He lost 3 years to his career.

I remember his 1st game back was against the Leafs, the crowd in Pitt was in a frenzie. He assisted on a Jagr goal 33 seconds into the 1st period and had 1G 2A against us.

Mario became the 3rd player ever that night to score a goal while being a member of the Hall of Fame.

Oscar Lindblohm with the Flyers and also Brian Boyle both returned from Cancer fine.

I don’t think either had a brain tumour tho

Worried about his health more so now that he’s so close with the team. Hopefully I’m wrong, but doesn’t seem positive to me
There is no reason to assume this is bad news. The last report on his health was positive.
Without getting into detail to not venture into politics. It could just be they want to keep him out of Russia with everything going on there.

I was disappointed with the reception he got at the game, should have been giving him way more love but the ACC is a morgue in terms of atmosphere unless the TV wasn't properly catching the sound.

Hopefully he's able to join the Marlies in a couple of months and gets the all okay :)

Didn't sound like much of an atmosphere there, so not totally surprised.

I think a bigger factor we sometimes forget here as that the majority of fans don't have much knowledge about prospects unless they are at the levels of a Matthews and Marner. I noticed the PA announcer specifically mentioned his draft year and position, maybe to give context to the fans as to who he was. But unless the prospect is top flight and is knocking on the door to play for the Leafs, I wouldn't expect the majority of fans to know who he is, even with his battle being made public.

It's doubtful people had much of an idea who he is.

Centre of the hockey universe is definitely overdone.

For what it's worth, I saw on Rodion was on the ice at Scotiabank Arena this past weekend. Presumably just doing a bit of an informal skate around. He posted a photo of himself to his instagram story. I don't imagine this means much for his recovery as I believe he's been on and off the ice in Russia since undergoing treatment. But it was nice to see him decked out in the TML swag in the barn he dreams of playing in one day. In true Rodion fashion, smiling ear to ear.
