Heh heh... Seriously? He said that? I guess that doesn't apply to all centers. The last time Scheifele was deep in his zone was when he tried to take Evans' head off.
If Perfetti puts up a couple of PPG seasons, then he's earned the right to float around the blueline in the D zone too lol

Its not how 'this org' deals with young players. It's how pretty much any successful NHL team deals with rookies.
Maybe not centres but Dallas has been pretty successful lately and doesn't seem to have a problem giving their young forwards some leash.

Fleury was signed mainly for Moose. But he also provides a depth we didn't have on that side. Lucky that we have him now.

If it's closer to the minimum Ville won't actually miss too much time. Depending on the Stanly diagnosis it could put him back in the driver's seat for that spot.

Not day to day, but week to week, or even month to month. We all know how day to day works.

I won't count on either of them at least until they are skating with the boys in a no contact jersey.

I'm quite happy to see they are putting a lot of effort into speeding their play up out of their end and through the nz. One of things I've thought they have needed to work on so glad to see they have identified it as an area for improvement.

Who says Fleury was signed for the Moose? He has been mostly a 6/7 in the NHL with very little time in the AHL. I think he saw a team with a weak left side after the top 2 players and took his chance he could carve out a role.

I'd say it was a chance to stay in the NHL. I would have had him #8 on the depth chart to start. But he signed before Stan, Heinola or Lundmark re-signed.

And who knows maybe the guys like JAD, Fleury, Shaw wanted to play in Canada, being Canadian. Western Canadians at that.

Arniel also discussed it earlier in camp. He doesn’t want Perfetti to have to start deep in his zone when the team transitions like would have to as a center.

I wouldn’t call it a legit chance. We are just finishing week 1 of camp. Same old risk adverse lineup decisions we always see.
It does sound like Brad is still in the coach's mind a potential opening day player. I have a hard time seeing him playing in Edmonton, just based on the quality of centers they have...That's a tough first test, but having him back in the home stretch for some games would be interesting. Going into Minnesota against their veteran lineup is a chance for him to make an impression. Because they are on the calendar early. If Arny didn't think he was capable he wouldn't even give him the chance. It's a measuring stick for sure. I think Lambert makes that decision harder if he keeps playing well on the PP too. I do get the sense that Arniel wants legitimate special teams improvement this year, in both ends of the ice. And it's seeming like that battle for the final cut might come down to two guys on opposite ends of special teams, Lambert and JAD. Especially if Stan isn't good to go. Because the defensemen on the cut line are still uncertain with 3 games left to play.

Johnston, Stankoven as well…Harley on the back end. They certainly didn’t let all these guys slow cook in Iowa until they were 22-23.

They either draft much better or give young players more leash.
A little from column A, a lot from column B.

One thing Scott mentioned today was that Fleury and Coghlans eyes might light up at the sight of two of the D being injured. They might see it as an opportunity to prove themselves (although training camp in itself should be enough opportunity for that) so maybe we see them step their game up a little bit. Might be a silver lining

The left D problems just highlights the ridiculousness of develiping chisholm and then throwing him away for nothing

Chis- miller would be a solid solid pp2 unit - id still move samberg there though

Define superstar. Wyatt Johnson? Logan Stankoven? Anton Lundell? Seth Jarvis? Quentin Byfield? Dawson Mercer?

Whoops, I missed where you said Center, so most of these players are wingers. They were all given more rope than any young Jet seems to get though.

I'd also question if you could really call this group a contending team. Playoff team, sure but I wouldn't say we are a cup contender atm.

I think it means outscored OR outchanced each year. Sometimes both but not necessarily.
I guess the consolation is that they are positive to start the year, that was a nice dish Scheif gave out to send KC in all alone.
