You also don't achieve a good 4th line by removing the only player on it who was any good (no disrespect to Goodrow, but he was literally playing on one leg.)
no room top 6 and pp1....remaining lines don,t match our needsI'm not sure I can remember a player such as Strome in the current scenario he's in. One of the longest tenured players, same age as most of core, top 6 player, loves being a Ranger, leader on the team and yet the vast overwhelming majority of the fanbase (myself included) has less than zero interest in bringing him back even on a team friendly deal.
He seems like a great guy, a good personality. But as a player, I could not be happier if and when he's gone.I'm going to miss Stromer![]()
It can't be understated how important it is to get cost controlled players on the roster. That's why it's critical to build a team through the draft. Getting Kravstov, a top 6 talent if things pan out, on a cap strapped team for under 1M is huge.Given the limited cap space the kids are going to be really important next year. I’m really intrigued by Kravstov coming back.
Motte.
He was the perfect bridge player but unless he signs on value wise as a 3C it'd hard to pay him a 2C when his game creates holes in your lineup. His lack of defensive game or faceoff ability puts more pressure and minutes on Ziba. The team can't afford having two centers (Chytil and Strome) with the same warts in their game.I'm not sure I can remember a player such as Strome in the current scenario he's in. Copp doesn’t sound like he’s coming back unless he gets a dumptruck of money. Not good. I was hoping to replace Strome with him
Haha. He'll get what on the open market 5M x 5 at least right?Put your money where your mouth is. Take $3m AAV.
I hear you but let’s be a little sensible here. 4.5 would be very fair and still a decent pay day for him. No way will he or should he take 3 million.Put your money where your mouth is. Take $3m AAV.
Love Frankie and what he gave considering his overall talent level but I would be more than happy with motte and Copp but you’re right they have to take team friendly deals somehowIn order to bring back Vatrano, Motte and Copp, the contracts have to be crazy team friendly.
Vatrano - $2.25 cap hit (Pay cut, so not likely, but you'll never know if you don't ask.)
Copp - $4.5 cap hit (Not a pay cut, but man is that asking for a discount. Again, see above)
Motte - $1.5 (Same as Copp)
However, if the guys buy in, this team would be lethal for a long time. Reaves and buyouts off the books after next season as well as another million increase in Cap can sign Miller long term. I am an advocate of moving Panarin at that time and then signing Laf and Chytil, if he proves to be what we need at center.
Kreider-Z-Vatrano
Laf-Chytil-Kakko
Panarin-Copp-Kravtsov
Motte-Goodrow-Blais
Reaves
Why do you guys do this to yourselves?I know its a pipedream but I would be calling Edmonton every summer. I would put in a call to Pitt as well. Espo came close to trading for Gretz. Sather came close to trading for Stamkos. While its a long shot its not impossible.
How badly will this board explode if Strome is the first of the UFA's re signed?
