Lundqvist in the all-star team?

I would have taken either Rask or Price ahead of him for sure.
Rask was really bad early on and didn't play in the Sweden game, so I don't think he would have been a deserving candidate.

I like Selanne, awesome player. Seriously though? MVP? Not even close.
Argument could be made that Rask was Finland's MVP.

Price should've been in over Lundqvist. I don't like the Habs and will soon start to dislike Price again, but he was the best goaltender.

Kessel's the only forward that stood out in my mind, but he totally disappeared when the games actually mattered.

Doughty or Weber were probably the best defencemen and Karlsson's my favourite player behind Alfredsson.

Meh, these 'awards' don't mean much. Just the medals.

Well, Karlsson totally disappeared when the game actually mattered so I don't think he should be in consideration.. Isn't that how this game works? Not directed at you but since you brought it up about Kessel, why not Karlsson?

Curious choices no doubt. But I got to say, it's adorable how butthurt some Canadians are because they think some of their players got snubbed. Stop acting like a bunch of little kids, you tough, tough good ol' Canadians boys. :sarcasm:

Well I mean they were the best team by far, I wish it was closer and that they played an exciting game or two, but instead it was just a total snoozefest because of the talent disparity. Anyone who replies to this by reminding me of the scores I suggest you watch the games.

Doughty was a ton better than Karlsson in this tournament but oh well. Boy was he bad today, but I guess when you pile up the points against the basement clubs you get the respect from the IIHF.

Granlund? Lundquist? Really? And where was Kessel when it counted?
Granlund was 3rd in points in this tournament and played with granpa (Selänne), a kid (Barkov), a mediocre KHLer (Immonen) and mediocre NHLer (Korpikoski). How many points Crosby (1+2) would have made with these guys then? Now he was barely able to pass Kari Lehtonen (0+2 in two games) in his sixth game.

The point was not to bash Crosby but tell that Granlund was very good especially in relation to what kind of linemates he had.

Maybe because Karlsson scored the game winner to help his team reach the GMG?

The Bronze medal game means you were already eliminated. In games that mattered he had 2 goals and 2 assists, including nothing in the most important game. So yes, MVP is a joke.

Huh? Bronze means you are playing for a medal with the loser getting nothing.

When you are knocked out of the conference finals thats it.

The most important game they played was that Bronze game do or die against a team expected to compete for gold.

Sleanne finished second in points and first in goals in finland.

Yep. Kessel says thanks.

There was no standout stellar player in this tournament. All the players showed up and hid in various matches. If you had given it to Price how was he better than Rask? If you had given it to Doughty how was he better than Weber? Karlsson disappeared in final, Kessel disappeared, Datsyuk went out early.... Selänne disappeared in game against Sweden but Was dominant over Russia and USA. From even mass of equal good 8 or so players they just gave it to the guy with most passion and factor to his team.

I would have gave Doughty the MVP, but in reality Team Canada didn't have one single stand out player.

It was a collective MVP. Everyone was contributing, even the whipping boy for some Kunitz who played well from the Latvia game on.

I'm not saying sentimental value wasn't a consideration, but some of you guys upset about Selanne need to realize he was 2 pts off the scoring lead, captained his team to a medal and scored 2 goals in the final game, including the game winner. I can't speak for the other games, but in the Bronze medal game he was noticeably the best player on the ice.

Lundqvist on the all-star team seems like it was predetermined before todays game. He wasn't awful today but he did look a little shaky and Price looked incredible today.

Maybe because Karlsson scored the game winner to help his team reach the GMG?

Not today though.. and that is what it is about. When the game actually matters. He was horrible today. Cracked under pressure and unfortunately, going by the "Kessel Rule", gets disqualified because he couldn't bring it when the game mattered the most; you know, in the GOLD MEDAL GAME

Yes, idiotic that the far-and-away most dominant team of the tournament should be represented on the all-star team.

Exactly, u guys had an awesome team! Your individuals didn't pop up that much and that's why the All-Stars team isn't all Red.

Selanne is a gentleman and a global ambassador of hockey. He is well deserving of MVP. What a tribute to a true Olympian!

Not sure how Price is named best goaltender of the tournament, but left off the allstar team.

It was a weak field.

Price had a 0.59 GAA and a 0.971 SV%, and you don't think he was better than Rask? Literally what more could he have done?
