Changing it up a little bit, if VAN makes Demko available should the Hurricanes try and get in on that? Seems like more of an off-season move but if VAN is dead set on moving him at the deadline would the Hurricanes try and make a move?

Demko, Kochetkov tandem for the next three seasons would be pretty nice IMO.
I'm all for it, if only because Demkochetkov would be an amazing power couple name.

Who do folks see Jarvis as a comparable and what do they see as his ceiling? I think once you decide that you can decide if you would send him out for a player like Meier.

From a stature perspective he's smaller than the Jeff Skinner and Brayden Points of the league isn't he?
He may be a bit smaller but he plays pretty big and strong on the puck for his size. I think his upside is Brayden Point. Not extremely likely he reaches that upside but, like Necas last year, I don't want to give up on him just because of a bit of a sophomore slump this year so far. If we have to trade him in a package to get a legit superstar, so be it. But I do not think Meier is a legit superstar or ever will be.

Pageau is a righty whose excellent at faceoffs…

I don’t hate the idea as long as there’s another move to add scoring

It'd make more sense if Kotkaniemi moved in a separate trade. In the absence of that, it's an inefficient distribution of cap across the C position. And they shouldn't squeeze Staal, potentially out of town, to make it work.

This is part of the reason why I think that Henrique makes more sense than Pageau. At 50% retained (Islanders are not likely to retain on Pageau), the cap hit of $2.9M for 2 seasons would be small enough to not impact the ability to keep Staal.

I like Henrique but I think a bit more size and grit in the top 6 would be good aka O’Reilly

I'd be ok with Henrique at 50%. Give them one of our AHLers and call it a day. If they want more than that, laugh and hang up the phone.

Just go get a rental center we can live with price wise and blow our wad on Meier.

We could run it back with KK at 2C with an even deeper pool of wingers next year. Or we could go chasing a guy like PLD.

??? It’ll be more expensive than that

we are a good team
Correct, and Noesen/Statsny-KK-Jarvis isn't one of our top 6 lines, nor will they likely ever be. Nor are the individual players top 6 based on ES TOI/GP (except Jarvis), so my statement is valid. Noesen is a 4th liner almost all the time, Stastny and KK are guys that can't hold down a top 6 role. Jarvis is top 6, but not scoring like one. Thus why we all think we need another scorer / better 2C in the top 6.

ES TOI/GP ranking among forwards:

1. Necas
2. Aho
3. Staal
4. Svechnikov
5. Jarvis
6. Martinook
7. Fast
8. TT
9. KK (12:00 / game ESTOI)
10. Statny (10:36 / game ESTOI)
11. Noesen (9:07 / game ESTOI)

On another note: I still believe Toronto, while needing defense, will sell out to make it past the first round and overpay for ROR.
