Looks like LeBrun helping out Edmonton with a bit of 3rd party tampering.

Lets Mrazek's agent know they have an offer ready.

i think in this day and time, tampering is so easy and anonymous that we'd be silly to not think mrazek's agent knows what a few teams would be willing to do for his client. we're talking about millions of dollars against ethics and a burner phone. by the time the day comes, i would imagine a lot of these guys already know details they shouldn't.

I don't know what this offer is, but I know what it's not.

@My Special Purpose , we are not at maximum Pesce yet.
Kapanen and Brown is peak Pesce value!

If that offer is accurate, then it's so insulting that Waddell should have Dubas on his permanent block list. That's not even close to fair value for Pesce.

With the likelihood that some capped teams are going to have to give players away, it makes no sense to entertain offers for Pesce.
I would listen to offers on him, in the sake of due diligence, but any offer that doesn't have a #1 center of a similar age involved should be hung up on immediately. Offers like Kapanen and Brown for him are just a waste of time, and Waddell should let everyone know that.

A year of Faulk is worth a 2nd round pick easily for a team hoping to contend.

Actually, I'm all for players helping us contend...but that doesn't change that it is egregious asset management. You take the f***ing picks and prospects any day and twice on Sunday.

Wild guess - Kap and a cap dump (not Zaitsev) for Faulk, or Faulk and buf 3rd next year for Kap.

I can see 58, not sure we'll give up a top 40 pick and a top 4 dman, even if they would basically be a pure rental for the leafs.

I'm hoping the front office sees this like me, but I don't believe you add to Faulk to get an unsigned Kapanen. He's still mostly unproven. In fact, I'd probably ask the Leafs to add...

Rumors are that we are on Kadri’s No Trade list.

I'm cool with that. Kadri stupidly cross-checked an opponent again in the playoffs and got himself suspended, again. Good player but not worth the headache he brings when the games get bigger and we all know RBA won't tolerate that shit.

Lol if they would trade Pesce for that.

If thats real than perhaps Waddell should block Torontos number. I doubt it is but we're not in the room making these calls so IDK :dunno:

I'd just say keep Pesce, but again thats just me

Once again, I don't believe that for a second. Some agenda being served.

This is Toronto bluffing that Kapanen and Brown actually have serious trade value. Everyone knows we were dangling Pesce for Nylander. Everyone knows the putative report that Pesce was ticked about his ice time (and he was so ticked they were almost FORCED! to trade him, until they didn't, and then it all worked out).

LeBrun knows his bread is buttered more thoroughly by telling Toronto fans something they'd like to hear than reporting on the reality of the situation, which is that the Canes would never do that deal.

"That could change" is just keeping them strung along.

If Kapanen changes to Nylander, or it becomes Nylander+Kapanen for Pesce and some other stuff, then I think the Canes have to think about it.

I think our management has an unhealthy fixation on Kapanen.

I don't see the justification in this, LeBrun reported back in December that Carolina discussed Kapanen internally. He stated in later interviews that the two teams stopped talking to each other after Nylander. Draft time rolls around and the FO takes a run at him. I think it's likely that Waddell and co. wanted to use the surplus of picks to add him outright and got back this generous counteroffer.

If there's anything unhealthy, it's LeBrun fixation with this idea. He has been pushing it and pushing it and pushing it for 7 months.

If it became Nylander + Kap for Pesce +

That is a no brainer. But won’t happen.

The TOR media machine is in overdrive mode. I imagine around mid afternoon a tweet comes out saying that Faulk and the braintrust are far apart on an extension and Faulk is dealt to TOR plus a prospect for Kapanen. OR, he’s sent somewhere like DAL for a decent collection of futures.

Less likely, in my estimation, would be a report coming out prior to the first round saying CAR has made progress in extending Faulk. If that happens, I’ll start to worry that they may actually consider moving Pesce.

I’ve made my peace with a potential Pesce for Ehlers trade. I can see the logic there, as long as they are sure Faulk will stick around for the foreseeable future. I also think a Hamilton deal for Kapanen + (not Brown) is a possibility. What I can’t see in any fashion is he rumored deal of Kapanen and Brown for Pesce, but who knows...

Gimme Zucker for futures, Toffoli and Quick for Faulk + whatever to make it work cap-wise and I’m good. Make 3 of the 4 picks in the first 2 rounds and go home with a fix in goal, a decent top 6 guy in Zucker and a reclamation project in Toffoli. Then focus all efforts on re-upping McBackup and Aho.
