When Chevy retires i want him to write a book about trades he had done but the player wouldn't waive to come to Winnipeg, would be very interesting.
I would imagine there are more than a few times where Chevy is told a player has the Jets on their No Trade List and he and the other GM don't even enter into discussions on the player.

Honestly not really interested in what would be available to us. Maybe show some faith in the players who got us here.

I'd really only be looking to upgrade Schmidt.
we would be showing faith in them by paying the price to give us the best chance at winning

That's your opinions and you're welcome to them, I have watched him play many time this year and I see him differently

Even if you opinion is correct a much better player in Miere just last year didn't return a Perfetti type piece so why would we part with one.

This is such a stupid part of the year where people go nuts with their valuations.

We did that with Monohan already. A couple more moves and some key contributors to the season are also coming out of the lineup. How is that for morale.

A Chevy style move would be adding Colin Miller from NJD... he's been solid this year, I think.hes played bones system... and pretty cheap I'd think maybe a 3rd

Vatrano would be nice but again I see Chevy looking for a value add... which could be roslovic haha
It’ll be Okposo.

did the monahan move bring down moral? why would adding do that, it's a silly argument against adding, we should not be comfortable with iaffalo in our top 6 and right now that seems very likely...

His penalty killing numbers would immediately be the worst on the Jets by a significant amount.
how?
of our highest used Fwds on the PK (lowry, appleton barron, names, iafallo) his xGA/60 is basically in the same ball-park. ANH as a team is 9.45 xGA/60 vs WPG at 9.14 xGA/60. (Vatrano 8.89)

I’ve always wondered how players see this situation. A team like the Jets vying for tops in the conference with the team they have now. Who do they consider expendable especially since they are constantly portrayed as so close knit.

Yeah, the NHLPA will never let it happen but the NHL needs to either limit the number of NTCs a team can have or just make them full no movement — no waiving, no limited number of teams. Otherwise markets like Winnipeg will always, always get shafted.
I don't see this ever happening. The NHL can't unilaterally limit or take a player's negotiating right away. To change this, it would need to be collectively bargained away for something the players would want more. Owners never give on money, so not sure what it would be? Especially when it is really only an issue for the bottom 1/3 of markets or so and gives a competitive advantage to the other 2/3. What is their motivation to level this playing field? I'd much rather the league pursue cap circumvention issues.

I'm seeing 9.42 for Vatrano and the highest on the Jets is 8.

EDIT: Sorry 8.6 for Pionk.
EDIT 2: Sorry I see the discrepancy now, I'm looking at GA/60.

Most versatile player out there is Buchnevich... only guy that I'd give up something big for

Guentzel could be a really nice pickup but again, he could all be a result of playing with Crosby.
Ya exactly that's why Chevy is going to get Crosby.:naughty: Just like that i turned our trades thread into a Leafs trades thread, every good player is coming here.

I think Monahan has fit in very well with the team, adding a good player and a need on the team should always be looked at as a positive.

That's why TDL deals mostly involve draft picks and prospects or maybe young players not fully established. Generally not too disruptive to a team, you add players but only subtract assets players care less about.

100% no player is going to be mad if you bring in a player that can improve your team when you are trying to win the cup
The good players will be happy because they want to win. The players that get bumped down or out of the line up are likely disappointed, possibly embittered, but they're typically in no position to complain. All of these guys have played on hyper competitive sports teams for years. They know how it works.

It's one thing moving a fringe guy who hasn't played much out of the roster. It's another to move some key contributors out.

Anyhow if Vilardi is out long term I expect a replacement brought in.

I can also see Perfetti jumping back up and contributing on the second line before the season is over.
