Feels like Chevy's playing with fire by not getting solid commitments from Scheifele and Hellebuyck.

Hopefully they don't burn the Jets like Gaudreau did to the Flames.

I think that for just next year (with schief and helle back) we break training camp as a better team than last year.

We're certainly deeper up front. PLD and wheels out, vilardi, iaffalo, names, Kupari and Nino in.

Ehlers Schief Nino
Connor vilardi perfetti
Barron Lowry iafallo
Kupari names apples

Solid, if not spectacular
And a few players that know how to defend.

If that happens then it will be on the Jets management. I still don't think they are dumb enough to walk them to UFA seeing how well that turned out for CBJ with Panarin/Duchene/Bob.

I am okay holding on to them if there are no good offers right now and flipping them at the deadline. My main concern is if the organization has the cojones to trade them at the deadline if they are in a playoff spot. That is such a tough sell to make to trade your #1 goalie and #1C while in a playoff spot that even the most progressive organizations would have a tough time with let alone the Jets.

Judging by the moves made so far, I get the feeling we're this season's version of last season's Flames.

Yeah, I mean I hope that Chevy's job is at least on the line for taking the gamble. If he loses that gamble he's putting the Jets back half a decade in construction probably.

I still maintain that there probably won't be a market for Hellebuyck at the deadline.

Pierre Engvall got 7 years. Lou with the Poile special signing a good 3rd liner forever at a decent cap hit?

Edit: Nope, 3 million AAV. Why the massive term

Why not? He's a good defenseman. The Jets are obviously going the retool route
He has been blocking too many young defensemen to stay, and we can no longer afford that. He needs to go.

Whether they're re-tooling is up in the air. So far, they have only traded the one guy who expressed his desire to leave, while doing nothing otherwise. That's not a re-tool yet; they should cut some of our older players and replace them with new blood, if they were serious about that.

I like the teams forward core now, much deeper and more diverse than last year.

They still need to sort out the Helle and Scheifele stuff. If Mark is willing to sign then get it done.

Helle sounds like he is still committed to leaving so he needs to be moved out.

were a much deeper team now, just need to get extensions for scheif/helle and hope our young guys take the next step

And Pitts just makes a terrible signing with jarry

Leafs getting absolutely bodied today.

Out: O'Reilly, Schenn, Acciari, Holl, Bunting

Re-sign: Kampf on a somewhat bloated contract.

In: Reaves

They pretty much have to sign one of Domi or Bertuzzi now

They can't afford one of those guys unless they give up on Nylander.

Also signed a solid backup in Nedeljkovic. Safe to say they're not in the market for Hellebuyck.
Good, they can waste the remainder of Crosby’s and Malkin’s careers while some other team gets serious.

Not solving his goaltending, is what Dubas is good at.

I think people are going to be shocked at how dry the goalie trade market is.

Like maybe a late first for Helle.

Yeah, the contenders are almost certainly set in net. You can only have one goaltender on the ice.

Everyone's going to be looking to turn their 3rd lines and 2nd pairs into 2nd and 1st pair alternates with cheap rentals with retained salary.

It's ride or die with your goaltender you start the season with barring injury in almost all cases.

Trotz might be a genius coach but his first few moves as GM have been baffling:

8x8.25 for Sorokin is a good sign, maybe we can beat other offers with 8x9.5 or something

I keep coming back to shaking my head on Reaves.

Three years at his age makes no sense at all.

Yeah, 9 looks like a pipe dream with that as a comparable. Sorokin is a few years younger than Helle, too.
Plus Sorokin hasn't developed a habit of letting in early/easy goals yet.
