This quote from Big Swole's podcast hit me right in the feels. She is talking about her young daughter watching wrestling:
"She would say, 'Mommy, there is nobody that looks like me on AEW. There's nobody that looks like daddy.' Then she started watching WWE because she saw Bianca and Big E. She saw herself represented. If that wasn't a 'click.' 'You are absolutely right. I don't have an explanation.' It's 2021. Why are people saying, 'it'll take three years for AEW to have a black champ'? "

Having seen her quote for the first time it comes across as she was butt hurt that her contract wasn't renewed and tried to drum up some publicity for herself. It can lead to such an unproductive discussion. By making that comment she is marginalizing all of the other forms of minorities for the sake of wanting a black champion. Japanese doesn't count, transgender native-american doesn't count, latino doesn't count. The company has had champions for 2 years and 4 months. Black wrestlers and/or commentators appear on the vast majority of shows. After Wednesday there will be a black champion unless Thunder Rosa interferes in the match.
Previously I mentioned that TK is free to comment on her criticism (but probably shouldn't have said anything) and should not have taken the shot at her wrestling abilities.
