Why would any woman want to go to AEW? All you're gonna do is job to Baker. Ruby debuted to a big pop from the marks in Chicago, lost to Baker a few weeks later and hasn't been heard from since.

No other women in that division is more over than Baker. It's the biggest weakness on their roster. Ruby wasn't on that level but was good depth. They need to get Storm to help with that division. No offense to Conti or Rose, they are great athletes but no one has made a case for over throwing her. Maybe better booking would have helped but who knows.

Yeah, again, we talked about that back in September when the article was written. Feel free to search it, or lay out which POC (male singles I’m assuming because both the women and tag division have had (or are) POC champions) were available to be inserted at a main event level.

What is POC? It already stands for Proof Of Concept & Point Of Contact. Acronyms are getting out of control.

He won't answer when he has no rebuttal. He's trolling.

AEW back under 1 million. Looks like college football is to blame for the decline. No need to panic though, next week will be a huge number. Stacked card and they will be on a network that is in more homes than TNT. I'm predicting close to a record rating and viewership.

Nobody was panicking.

Well it's New Year's Day, but it feels like Christmas morning to me! For those who don't know, the "Booker of the Year" made a complete ass of himself last night on social media. Former AEW performer Big Swole, who is Black, explained on her podcast that she left AEW in part because of the lack of diversity. Even Hellen Keller can tell AEW has a diversity problem. The main event scene has been dominated by white guys since the company's inception. Thin skin Tony didn't agree and sent out the now infamous tweet:

This was retweeted by Britt Baker and MJF (both white and currently getting heavy pushes).

Other members of the AEW roster didn't take to kindly to Tony:

Ricky Starks (Black wrestler signed to AEW) was so pissed he deleted his twitter account.

Tony might want to spring for a PR team.

This quote from Big Swole's podcast hit me right in the feels. She is talking about her young daughter watching wrestling:

"She would say, 'Mommy, there is nobody that looks like me on AEW. There's nobody that looks like daddy.' Then she started watching WWE because she saw Bianca and Big E. She saw herself represented. If that wasn't a 'click.' 'You are absolutely right. I don't have an explanation.' It's 2021. Why are people saying, 'it'll take three years for AEW to have a black champ'? "

Big Swole is the worst wrestler I’ve seen on TV since Jenna Morasca on TNA 13 years ago. She did not leave on her own free will, she got let go because she’s bad at her job. She had “turn the channel” heat with me and probably everybody else and that’s why she was never on tv recently.

Scorpio Sky was the first tag champion, so it didn't take 3 years. More like 3 weeks.

Their very first women’s champion was a trans black Native American and the worst women’s wrestler on TV thinks she was marginalized for something outside of her lack of ability

I can’t

Look in the mirror Big Swole! Both places didn’t want you! Leave the wrestling to your man Cedric! He’s significant better at it- just because he wrestles doesn’t mean you have to as well!

Top indy talent Darius Lockhart responds to Tony:

For you guys here still trying to defend AEW and Tony, I recommend you read thru Lockhart's twitter page.

yeah the guy marginalizing other minorities as “white passing” is the guy that should really be listened to

TK was wrong to say it out loud but Big Swole is absolutely a terrible wrestler. I hope you can admit as much.

Tony shouldn't have said what he said either. Obviously not everyone has the same experience.

If Big Swole's lack of workrate is your takeaway from all of this, you're completely missing the point of everything.

I’m really not. She is the focal point of all this. Tony was petty and immature to take a jab at her but she got released because sucks at her job, not because she was marginalized in any way like she seems to claim

It’s funny to me that even the minorities they do push aren’t minority enough for Lockhart. Casually tosses them aside as basically white….THATS real marginalization. He should grow up. I guess Dante Martin isn’t really black and Sammy Guevara isn’t really Latino, because that’s what he’s implying

I am not an authority on race, but marginalizing identity by terming it 'white passing' can be just as harmful. We know in wrestling by and large where this is pointed, it's to Japanese (Asian) women, as if the Asian and Pacific communities haven't been treated enough like shit the past 2 years. It's where the overall discussion on diversity gets turned inside out when people have to justify their identity because they're not black enough, or not gay enough, or not whatever else enough. This is where some of advocates for diversity initiatives lose people.

I listened to Crying in H-Mart, the memoir by Michelle Zauner (singer of Japanese Breakfast, also narrated it), who had a relationship with her parents (white father, Korean mother) that was less than ideal and went back and forth between the US and South Korea and lamented about how in the US she was seen as part-Korean and in Korea she was part-American.

I am not denying either's experience here, but there seems to be a denial of experiences of people based on the account of not being on their side when they should be.
