To be fair, he only looked ok and piled up 3 secondary apples.

well to be fair the first two were just passes to Marner.
The first one he wasn't even on the ice when they scored.
But good for him. I hope it builds up his confidence and he continues to get better

Reilly is one of the best offensive dmen in the league. He’s not much more then average defensively, but he’s got no glaring hole in his game. He’s pretty consistent and professional with the job he does there and can play against anybody. He’s been a leader for our team for a lot of years and I expect him to remain a part of this core after this contract is up.

Defence is more important than 2nd assists.

He seemed to get untracked a bit in the 3rd period. A little steadier in the dzone and more authoritative going up ice.

Something to build on it think.

I didn’t really see it, still awful stick work, still too many lost battles. Got caught standing around again. Also, despite his assists, I think he can play much better offensively.

His xGF% was 35%, 4th worst on the team. He’s still getting buried in terms of quality chances against.

I just saw Brodie ended in the teens....people are so content with that pairing but I think it’s a ticking time bomb. They are giving up so much and generating so little despite favourable zone starts.

Haha yeah for sure, considering how fluky all our goals were (especially the ones Calgary kicked into their own net), assists last might mean squat.

Having said that, Rielly has been our best Dman for years, he's an excellent player, has great character and leads by example, was one of the best Dmen in the NHL the year before last and played hurt much of last season. He's probably our 3rd most important player after Andersen and Matthews and if anyone on our team is entitled to a grace period while he gets his game in gear it's him.

Morgan Rielly is a huge part of this team, I'm honestly not worried about him at all.
