Honestly, the kings need all the drafts pick they have, we don't have the best prospect pool, Kings need their picks.

They should go for the cheapest player, which I believe in Gaborik.

Brownie's probably a 4M-5M player, so, 5.875 is bit of a stretch, but not that bad.

Exactly, and Brown has been cheap (contract wise) for his entire career.

The Kings have gotten tremendous value out of Brown.

Lombardi rewarded him. Is he overpaid ? a little.

But I think Brown deserves it.

@reallisa: Hilarious when IHOP and Vanek are back-to-back trending items on twitter in LA.

Well, nobody was forced to sign him to that deal because he was a bargain the first time. Personally I think he's not a $6M player, far from. There's a grey area between below market deal and $6M.

As for Mike, I also give him the benefit of the doubt, because of the past few post seasons.

Brown was going to be a UFA, and he was going to end up with at least $6 million. It's NHL free agency.

Added to that is that Brown has been a career long King, the captain, the captain of a team that won the Cup, and who else would the Kings have if not for Brown? How many guys have they missed out on over the years already? Unless a player is drafted by or traded to the Kings, they're normally not going to get that player if someone else wants him.

This year is his "disappearing act". As long as there is no encore, I'm ok with that. And if he gets his gear settled come playoff time, allelujah!

Brown has already looked much better. Far too many people are jumping the gun. The guy has been extremely consistent his entire career.

This trade deadline stuff is nonsense. Is Gaborik/Moulson/Vanek the difference between a Cup and not? That is a rhetorical question of course but I'm glad DL typically abstains from the drunken spending sprees GM's often go on this time of year. Keep our prospects/picks unless there is a hockey deal to be made. None of these players are likely to have the impact on the team that we'd all hope for. That means they aren't really worth the cost.

Pretty much. People need to remember Dean's words on the situation:

Dean Lombardi, on the trade market:
One GM told me once a long time ago, ‘Be careful, it’s a suckers market.’ And if you look at the past – if you take out all the emotion and then you take out all the trades made in the last three or four years at the deadline – how many of them really were significant? The Hossa thing made an impact. There have been a couple, but very few. And then you look at the names at times too. Why did we have an eight hour TV show for this? It’s funny.

Take the emotion out of it and just look at the list a year later and then look at some of the prices. There’s a tendency to say, ‘I’ve got to do something,’ and then you see a team in your division or conference do something. ‘I’ve got to do something. I’ve got to do something.’ But it’s a dangerous mindset. Plus, we’re not looking that you get better too. There are areas to improve, but it’s not like you’ve got a lot of holes. So now your market’s even more condensed. You even look at the price we paid for Penner, even Robyn. Two second [round draft picks] – that’s a lot. It comes back to bite you…if you’re not careful.

Like I said, I think historically just because of the laws of supply and demand, those prices are pretty darn high for rentals. The fact is too, a lot of rentals – with the cap going forward – is, OK, I like the guy, I pay this. But there’s a big difference paying for a three month asset and a three, four year asset. The thing that can happen on a rental if you kind of like him, is then he’s got you…because you’ve paid a lot and you know you’ve to keep him and now you have to sign him cap-wise. So you over pay at times to get him and you might have to over pay on your cap, so you’re taking a double hit. So you’ve got to be really careful you don’t have that luxury that, ‘OK, I’ve got to overspend by a million to keep him because I gave up X, Y and Z.’ That might be cut off to you. There are a lot of things involved there. But I think sometimes we get involved in the mentality of ‘We’ve got to do something,’ and people think you’re doing nothing if you don’t do [anything].

People forget this job is like what Gekko said on Wall Street. ‘I look at 100 deals a day, I choose one.’

Being a beast in the post season before obtaining the Cup does these kinds of things...

But if had been this season the way he has been the last few games, we wouldn't be having this discussion. ;)

OLD MCDONALD NOT A KING EIEIO

Guess Andrew MacDonald won't be playing for the Islanders tonight... He's now a member of the Philadelphia Flyers.
Isles get a 2nd and a 3rd

.@BarackObama hey i know this is last minute & I hate asking on such short notice but can I crash for a few days? I'm great with kids

LOLOLOL

Good that the Flyers stepped on that landmine and overpaid for Amac. He really isn't a very good top 4 candidate.

The Mayor is about half way through the league when it comes to players he has said Clifford is getting traded for.
