Id like to see us get MacDonald and Martin from NYI and Gaborik from Columbus.

Clifford, Martinez, Vey, and picks going the other way. Columbus would have to retain 50% of Gaborik's cap hit for it to work, otherwise someone has to go.

Yes, let me expand on what Herby said.

I'm a logical guy. I like to think things through very logically and see what makes SENSE.

First, you look at the guys Dean would want. To me, I identified three right away: Gaborik, Umberger, Foligno. MAYBE Dubinsky but not as much.

Umberger and Foligno both are helping a team win right now. Why break up the locker room and a winning formula by trading one? Neither will move.

Gaborik is a UFA to be, playing in a market he might not want to stay in, was injured and the team still won without him. If you can trade someone likely to leave anyway, while not disrupting the winning you were able to get without him, and pick up some assets, why not do it?

In return, you eat some of his cap for this year, pick up a veteran locked in for next year as well in Williams, and can get a good prospect to help for the future.

Again, you're not flying out your AGM for three games for nothing. Only one other team had theirs in Manch this year, it was once, and at some point after it, the Kings traded with that team. That last part may have just been a coincidence but still. Logically, Gaborik to LA is the move to watch.

You do realize the irony in this statement right?

CBus wouldn't want to break up a "winning formula" (whatever that means for a fringe team). But the Kings would love to for an oft injured player that is a marginal upgrade over a heart and soul player that has been clutch for an actual "winning formula".....

I just heard Buff is very big on Voynov. I don't even know what to say about that.

Considering they're probably going through front office changes and its Voynov, nothing will come of it. No way LA trades him.

He may get a better offer elsewhere, or an offer from a team he would prefer to play for.

I'd say he prefers to play in Columbus since you know, he waived his NTC clause.
CBJ could probably still offer 6 Mil per, one of the few who can afford to

That list of scouts is going to give me nightmares.

Rob Cowie, Ethan Moreau, JVB and The Disaster. It's like a reunion of awful, all they are missing is Erik Rasmussen and Mathieu Garon.

Remember when people called Carter selfish?

Yes, and Carter is selfish - all good goalscorers are selfish. Difference between Carter and Gaborik is that Carter is a good teamplayer and Gaborik is me-first player.

Scouting Report by The Hockey News:

Marian Gaborik

Assets: Is one of the fastest players in hockey, naturally gifted and a constant offensive menace. Great at changing gears. Has soft hands, elusive one-on-one moves and a quick release highlighted by a laser-like wrister.

Flaws: The injury bug has been a big problem in slowing down his production over the years. Unfortunately, he doesn't always play a team game and has had issues with his coaches as a result.

Career Potential: Elite scoring winger, when healthy.

Yeah, sounds like Darryl Sutter type of player.

Hard for me to imagine what Buffalo could offer that would get Dean to cough up Voynov in a trade. Would have to be Myers +, and I still don't see it.

How do you manage to change your name from Jarmo with only a couple of posts and join date in 14 to your new alias with over 200 posts and an earlier join date?
