Anyone thinking the Kings would trade Voynov over this is ****ing insane.
The fact the slowest person on the board realizes this and others don't truly scares me...
The more I think about it, and yes I know our d is #1, I think our d needs some retooling. It's just too damn slow.
Build around Doughty, Voynov and Martinez and maybe Greene and go really hard after responsible defensemen who can actually keep up the play. Cut ties with Mitchell and Regehr.
Doughty-XXX
Voynov-XXX
Martinez-Greene?
Maybe I've had too much champagne this morning.
Girardi?
Mark Stuart?
Nashville still doesn't touch thatGo big in the off-season and try to acquire Shea Weber for Slava Voynov, Justin Williams, one of Tanner Pearson or Linden Vey, and two first round draft picks. Playing armchair GM is fun.
Just curious, but on the Leafs board we have been tossing around an idea for a deal based around Lupul and Brown.
Would you guys be interested in something like that?
Lupul would help you guys score more, and he's good friends with Richards/Carter.

We're certainly seeing what Doughty can do with the right partner/system.
Doughty needs someone who can get him the puck quickly and can skate with him. Kings don't have that in a left handed defenseman. Well, I think Martinez would be worth trying with him, but aside from that...They need to find someone.

I don't disagree at all. I'm with you on most points, actually. But I think this is not just Doughty.
I posted elsewhere that if the Kings are all enjoying this kind of success at the Olympics but come back and collectively keep sucking (lol, I actually typed "Sutting"), heads are going to roll. While I think we can certainly upgrade (especially at LW, partner for Doughty, etc.), what this tourney is showing is that the talent exists, it's just being shackled.
The only way we get Weber from Nashville is if we give them Richards AND Voynov. Tempting, but not likely to happen.
By the way...the following is a list of Left Shot Defensemen from teams currently 10 points out of the playoffs or more. It includes how many years are left on their deals and their cap hits.

The Kings have 4 Left shot D-Men...Mitchell, Regehr, Muzzin & Martinez...None have been able to help bring out the best in Drew for various reasons...Any of these guys?
