i have to agree to the person above me.

The Kings played best hockey when Murray was gone and Sutter to new to hammer his system in. Of course that led to the cup.

Why the heck our brass is ignoring what really worked to replace it with something that doesn't work is far beyond me.... serious.

If all that is really backed up by Lombardi, he has to go too.

I think that a cup run, the wcf run, and now a full year of grind has warn them down.

I think the Kings have their team pretty much built, that elusive left wing spot (penner's absence, and frattin's unsuccess) would be nice to fill just to get the lines situated. Doesn't even have to be a Vanek, just someone who can fit the chemistry.

Honestly, the fact that we are all relying on the break to get the team back in shape does not sit well with me but it will probably do more good than any acquisition.

As long as our players do not get injured over there I agree. I am most worried about kopitar. He will be playing with some bad line mates and could pick up bad habits. Also he will be playing a lot against some really tough matchups in which he will be the opposing teams main focus.

I'm hoping Kopitar realizes he's going to have to throw that team on his back, and carries that mentality back to the Kings. I want him to try doing it all himself more.

I think there is a fine line there. I would like to see him do more, but also want him to utilize his line mates.

Kopitar was already throwing the Kings on his back. He's the only guy that's done anything on the offensive side of the puck for the last month.

We've seen this all year :naughty:

How close in value would the below be?
From Boston:
Loui Eriksson
From LA:
Justin Williams an Alex Martinez.

salary would save us $500K.
Gives us our LW, however costs defensive depth and RW depth.
Fives boston defensive help due to injuries, and helps out a weaker right side.

Kings focus on D first. It shows with our number 1 D ranking in the league and our close-to-last goals for rank. The problem is our defense is too slow and not as good today with 2014 Mitchell and no Scuderi. The forwards have to spend more time playing defense. We're going to need faster, better and younger D-men moving forward. The team only has room for one Matt Greene/Robyn Rehger type. While it's sexy to talk about getting an elite LW, this team wins with Brown and Penner. I think a better D will help Brown and King is what Penner should have been. We need two defensemen, one to replace Scuds and one to replace Muzzin.

Considering how well other players, including our own Mitchell, have done after sitting out a year or more.... just say no.

Kaberle is playing in the Czech elite league this season and doing just fine, and I thought he looked good and quite mobile for a 35 year old. He can still pass the puck and connect tape to tape and isn't a slug on the ice like Regehr.

Kings system definitely HAS to change I don't care what anyone says. It's too much on players, it'd too risky. It takes a **** ton out of players.

And, Bruins play a similar system, look how Inconsistent they are, how they go hot and cold.

If the Kings want their core to last longer and be more consistent, they have to change it up. It's just ******** at this point that were so Inconsistent.

The attacking forecheck system the Kings bring to the playoffs can't be played all year. It's too hard on the players physically. A team can only run that system all out for about 20-30 games at most. And that's only if they've got a deep team and some youngsters to bring up who can provide substitutions for injury and energy... exactly what we had in 2012. One real advantage youngsters have is they don't have 5 years of NHL pro pounding on their bodies.

You just cannot play that system all year at playoff pace unless the NHL suddenly decides that teams can have an extra 10-12 bodies on the roster during the year. And you can't get the kind of offensive show fans want playing that system at a slower "regular season" pace.

It's why teams that win President's Cups don't usually win Stanley's. They can't adjust to the extra hitting - either giving or receiving - and tighter defensive play. It screws up their timing and pace and suddenly they can't play the showtime game.

The Kings have a great GM and Coaching staff - all winners!! They brought us from nowhere to elite. We've got an an excellent prospect pool and great development structure in place. We've grown into an excellent team that has league-wide respect. We're now listed in the same group as legendary franchises. The Kings just hit a rough spot and their timing was off. Remember, Quick had surgery, the D was turned over, and a couple of forwards were not at their best physically during the first part of the season but we still dominated. A long season caught up with us. It happens.

I look forward to a lot of fans changing their tune when this team gets some rest, gets a chance to reboot, and starts charging through the Spring. That's KING TIME. When it's real.

GKG!!

I'm sure Mr. Regehr would play like a monster in a lower league as well.

And how would Olympic teams do in NHL arenas in playoff games? How many games does an Olympic team play in the tournament compared to the Cup playoffs? Sure, Kaberle is an interesting idea, I just think there are better options out there than a guy at the very far end of a career.

Costs almost nothing, smarter than Muzzin...if he's willing to play for cheap we can use him in sheltered minutes in special situations and as a body...

I agree but if he can cost very little, why not take a look at least? Not like we're trading a first for Luke Schenn or something.
