No matter how this plays a cruel joke on Kevyn and becomes his Achilles heel at the helm of Buffalo.

5. Quiet goalie competition

Eric Comrie stopped 19 of the 21 shots he faced in two periods of work against the Capitals while playing behind a defense that included only two players with significant NHL experience. That came a day after Devon Levi and Luukkonen didn’t allow a goal in the scrimmage. But the Sabres will need a bigger body of preseason work to evaluate their three goalies. And it’s clear they will also weigh Levi’s seven starts at the end of the regular season when making a decision, too.

Not worried about goaltending situation. Can trade for a goalie if Levi faulters. I am glad that Adams is showing confidence in Levi. Trading for a goalie could hurt Levi.

If Levi does struggle send him down and trade for a goalie. I know, easy to type not so easy to trade.

Well, at least we have Levi, for some reason. I don’t believe in UPL at all, maybe Comrie will be able to improve compared to last season. But if they miss the playoffs again and goaltending is an issue, Adams will have to give up his spot to Karmanos, Ventura or someone else. He's spent too much time as a GM not to find at least an average goaltender over the years.

Tampa or AVS make sense
Those seem like two fairly smart front offices. So if the price is incredibly low, like…nothing…and due solely to the circumstances they find themselves in…maybe. But there are plenty of people they can get for free that show as much ability as UPL. Guys will be waived who will have better years.

Well, I don’t know who else needs a goalkeeper and there aren’t many options. Tampa and Colorado are smart, but they also like to experiment, the same Georgiev trade that seemed to be bad and wasn't even a starter. There were experiments before this too. These are two teams that will make it to the playoffs anyway, even if they have a goalkeeper like UPL, which is why they are experimenting during the season.
