Hall - Matthews - Marner
Galchenyuk - Nylander - Hyman
Mikheyev - Tavares - Engvall

Tavares has no chemistry with Nylander/Gally, and plays well with both Engvall and Mikheyev. At some point I would try it out. Nylander is a great neutral zone guy so I think C could benefit him.

He's worked hard on the forecheck and gets back when the puck goes the other way. He's shown some pride in his game and a bit of an edge, which is great.

As long as he brings this every day he will be well rewarded in the offseason.

He has some real nice stick skills. Coordination. Seems to be strong on his skates.

Hockey is an incredibly demanding game and no matter how talented you are, you have to work like a super fit dog on the ice to achieve results.

Its why the Drouin's of the NHL, far under achieve, what people expect, and the Mark Stone's, far exceed.

Right now, Gally is working his tail off, like a super fit dog. What a free wallet, again.

Huh? Ever since Galchenyuk has played on that second line it’s been working. Tavares and Galchenyuk have actually worked pretty well together. I’m excited to continue watching what that line can do over the next few games as chemistry is clearly growing.

I don't think they've been bad together, but I don't see much chemistry between JT and the other 2. Gally and Willy look to have some decent chemistry, and you'd assume if they had a worker on their line like Hyman they could do some damage. Plus last year Tavares did really well with Engvall and Mikheyev, which is why Engvall ended up getting his extension, by playing with JT.

If the second line continues to perform as they have, at both ends of the ice I might add, as preventing a goal equates to scoring a goal in the win/loss column; this team will be well set for the playoffs. I think Tavares in particular is going to benefit greatly from Galchenyuks speed and drive.

It's early, but they are already a good second line, and they have the potential to be a 1B line if they all play to their potential. Without overstating how they have played thus far, that is what I am seeing from their game.

If Galchenyuk helps the Leafs to a long playoff run he will be in high demand and certainly Dubas will find money for key guys. We know how vital certain players can become to a line, just look at the Bruins Patranak/Bergeron/Marchand. For years they have been dominating.

Smart players figure out the chemistry if they have the talent.

I think Dubas and the coaching staff deserve a ton of credit for how they managed Galchenyuk's playing time after he was acquired. They really took their time letting him learn the system and gain confidence with the Marlies and it has really paid off so far.

We may have struck gold here if he can keep it up.

The only reason I don't like Tavares with Engvall and Mikheyev is that all 3 love to hold onto the puck, forever. And no Hall. And leave Hyman with Matthews/Marner, it works. And given that's the most important line the "needs" of the other lines are far down on the priority list. And Nylander isn't going to play center.

I hate that Sheldon tinkers with his lines repeatedly, but what they have now, with the personnel they have looks about as good as it's going to get. They're undefeated in regulation in the last 8 - notwithstanding it coincides with Freddie's injury - so they're doing something right. Unless Kyle makes a move (I'm hoping for a veteran 3rd line center) I see no need to mix things up. Also shows the players that the coach has faith and confidence in them, an important thing heading into the playoffs.

Alex Galchenyuk. Who is this guy? I don't remember him being this good in his Montreal days. Not even close. Then he went on a journey around NHL and was on downward spiral. And now THIS? He rushes to the corners like Hyman, he wins all battles, he possesses the puck, he passes, he scores. Last night on Tavares goal he was occupying defender in front of the net. He looks like demon out there. No matter what your expectations were, those were shattered into pieces. Keep it up, Alex. Keep it up!

If another winger is traded for, in the top 6 I think it should be Hyman that is dropped. He makes a line that much better.

New Winger- Matthews- Marner
Gally- Tavares- Nylander
Micheyev- Kerfoot-Hyman
Thonrton-Spezza- Simmonds

Engvall is the odd guy out in this scenario unless of course Kerfoot is traded to fit new player.
