I think the Leafs told Alex, you do not have to be "the guy" (high draft pick/high expectations). Just be yourself, get comfortable, get happy...then play like know how.
So, just let him be and we will all be pleasantly surprised!

This is one of the reasons why a Hall acquisition could work. I am okay if the Leafs don't make any moves but if they do, go for it all.

Hall would literally be our 6th best forward so he can play without any pressure. He doesn't even have to better than Hyman. Just show up, play hard like Galchenyuk.

Good pickup by Dubie .. better than Vesey so it is a roster upgrade ... I was hoping he could actually get in faster and retrieve pucks on da forecheck like Zach but it is not a skill which he has .. we still need another guy who can get in on forecheck and retrieve pucks for JT assuming he can still finish ...

Pleasantly surprised. He made a handful of high skill passes last night that other players simply can't make, and he adds that to speed and a willingness to engage physically on the forecheck. It's a good combination, and he looks dialed in every night.

Acquiring a drowning player and then sitting them for what was it a couple weeks? to just work with your skills coaches and development team, it looks good on Dubas and the org. Hats off to them for taking such a player-centric perspective.

You may be right, He cannot drive his own line (not yet), but he is a great "complementary" player to have for the 1st or 2nd line. MTL just miscast him when they drafted him, maybe costed his development too.

Still, no idea why Dubie signed Vesey instead of Galchenyuk.

Frankly, we can now move on from willi the friendly ghost
we need another high energy winger to go with,,,,,,,, Galy/JT

seen 10x more chemistry with AG/JT , then with WN/JT

Reactions: JT AM da real deal
He would have way more points if Tavares could finish. He’s set him up time and time again for Tavares to just blow the opportunity.
Absolutely. He seems an ideal mix with Tavares and Nylander. Now I'm hoping we can afford him on a 3 year deal. I do think he's appreciative of the way the team has handled him and set him up for success.

likely a family influence in Dubie's ear

Tavares' first 30 games: 0.41 goals/60 | 0.69 ixg/60 | 3.86 high danger chances/60
Tavares with Galchenyuk: 1.29 goals/60 | 1.22 ixg/60 | 8.6 high danger chances/60 (first in the league over the last 10 games)

Galchenyuk is really f***ing good, and has turned Tavares into a legit threat

The way he uses his frame and skill to make passing lanes I didn't even know existed is so fun to watch.

Impressed with him. Work ethic, passing creativity, shot. Not amazing in the D zone, but does OK. Not horrible like I thought he was going to be. Skating seems good. Forecheck bordering on tenacious, He's just getting warm up too.

screw 3 year deal,,make it 6y and drive that AVV down,,,the kid just turned 27,,,he has a solid 6 left in him

I'm gonna be that guy....

....galy has to produce more if he wants to stay on that line.
With Nylander on that line, it looked like their chemistry was getting better with each game, wouldn't be surprised to see that line go on a heater in the near future

He may disappear in the playoffs. So I'm not as high on him as most yet
What about the star players last couple playoff? We should appreciate about his recent plays. He still have his tools and trying to work better defensively. Other teams might just threw him off without patient. Resume didn't look I think his work ethics would balance it out.

He wants to earn his next contract as it's right in his prime as 27 years old.

Still can't believe how lucky we are if Galchenyuk has finally matured for real.

His size and speed combo becomes more apparent every game. Such a steal for the price we paid. Rather take a flier on him given what I seen so far instead of losing a first rounder to bring in Palmieri. That reach he has on the forecheck and back check is unreal.

Just needs to spend some time with Hyman to better utilize that reach. For example, he's there on the forecheck and back check but I feel like he's not making the right kind of stick checks yet. It's more adrenaline based right now. Needs to see it through with his head now.

The points will come if he stays in the top 6. Keep in mind he's averaging 12 minutes a night with no pp role. If all goes well, we may have finally found that winger Nylander has been missing to run and gun with like he does when he plays for Sweden in the worlds. Galchenyuk needs to keep working hard for this to happen though but he has given me reason to root for him.

Chucky is a decent bottom 6 option at wing. where exactly depends on the deadline. I don't see him staying on a second line for long -- yes we're winning, but not enough offence there for a top 6 role.

good gamble for Dubas as it cost pretty much nothing.

Only played 13:37 last night which is surprising since we were down a winger. Played well again. Didn't register a hit but was hard to play against and honestly looked like he got 1 or 2 to me but I digress. Almost scored as well.

I think he could be a Johnson/kapanen type player for us. Doesn't have the same speed or pking(kk) BUT seems to be a 40-50 player that could play up or down the lineup. Gally also for the most part is a more physical player and is a better passer with higher IQ then these guys.

Frankly, your punctuation and grammar is far better than your thinking.

I'm not worried about Galchenyuks production tbh. He's got 4 in 10, which is a little light sure, but that line has looked much better and productive since he joined them after being cold for quite a while. If his work helps Nylander and Tavares produce more and he can be around 0.5ppg, I have no issues with that

That's the definition of elite icetime though.

On a more serious note his comments on the team atmosphere are interesting, if we bring in a younger UFA like Schwartz I like our odds of being able to get another year or two out of them for cheap. A young competitive team you have fun playing for with top tier medical and skills development programs would be a good place to boost your value before someone else gives you your retirement contract. Galchenyuk can probably earn himself a couple million in the long run instead of being a PTO next year.
