At what point does he become a player you protect in the expansion draft? Or do you let him go UFA and hope no one signs him
You certainly let him hit UFA with a handshake deal and hope you doesn't pull a Michael Nylander on you (Edmonton).

Pleasent surprise. Way to early to say this stretch is a turning point for him but playing great so far. Deserved the goal today

I haven't followed his career a lot but I assumed he'd be soft and around 5'10 being a hab

At 6'1 and 210 he has a Hyman type of frame. Great add...

I hope he doesn't score this weekend against the Flames and instead pots his 1st as a Leaf vs the Montreal Canadiens next Wednesday. The stories will write themselves. :sarcasm:

why not both?

after potting his first goal as a leaf it was clear that his confidence was boosted and he was playing with even more energy than before. He was playing with almost postseason like intensity. Excited to see what he will do next against his former team MTL

I love his work ethic on the ice.

Too many guys float around looking for points. He puts in the effort to not only raise his game but his teammates' too. Very similar to Hyman despite the different playstyles.

It might be out of desperation for his spot but he's been outstanding so far.

Loving this line now... I can see why Galch was taking a bit of a hit in Habs land if they were trying use him as their Number 1 C tho...

He looks great as the third person to a top line.

It's perfect timing for Leafs. He's desperate to still forge an NHL career out for himself. He's gotta keep working hard, and we all know he has the talent.

If he fails here he likely bounces about numerous teams and over to Europe. Succeed in Toronto and he'll possibly earn himself a good move. He's fighting for his career right now I feel.

I'm not sure he'll stick around here if it goes well, simply cos of what $ Leafs will be able to offer him.

Said it in the GDT; I don't get how he's bounced around so much. I had low expectations based on that but I feel like this guy has been better than his linemates who make a hell of a lot more money. He's looking like Hyman on that line.

Looks like getting a shot on a competitive Leafs team has given him some life.

I think he’s earned a roster spot even if the Leafs acquire a top 9 forward at the deadline.

He’s getting scoring chances most games and is helping out that line.

He is not looking like Hyman. What are you talking about?

I think Galchenyuk is just right for the 3rd line, and a placeholder for someone better on the 2nd line. I'm glad he's contributing, but I just don't see it. He's good enough, but he's not actually good IMHO.
