Celebrini HF thread has been quiet since we won the lottery
Last week it was getting a lot of views from Canucks fans as they rosterbated him onto their team.

Yeah, the "petterson to SJ for 1st overall" thread was kinda funnyLast week it was getting a lot of views from Canucks fans as they rosterbated him onto their team.
Petterson is so good, Nucks fans want to drive him to the airport for some "magic beans"Yeah, the "petterson to SJ for 1st overall" thread was kinda funny

Yeah, I'd have no problems taking Pettersson off their hands for plenty. It just wouldn't be Celebrini or Smith. Everyone does the hometown thing. Hell, we do that with Auston Matthews lolI don't want to turn this into a Peterson bash thread as I like the player. Yea, the proposal was ridiculous but the thing I find annoying is that you have people that claim players because they were born in a certain place.

I wanted to respond to the last post but it's locked.Petterson is so good, Nucks fans want to drive him to the airport for some "magic beans"
You could make a case for some even did with Celebrini because his dad works for the Warriors and he was a Jr Shark.
Who the hell says Catton is a defensive liability? If you have the chance to pair a potential PPG player with Celebrini, you do it.Seems wasteful, I could live with Catton but if you're going to take him it would be such a waste of Celebrini to pair him with a defensive liability instead of other players who are hard to play against. I don't like his implication that Emery is the only good defensive player needed to build a future defense.
Admitedly, this created some additional absurd hope for me. Surely, if we're ever going to get the first overall it's when it's a guy who was a JR. Shark. He's not a CA native, but for us this is about as close as it gets (Devin Cooley not withstanding)
Everyone who watches more than a highlights package? He has a lack of engagement, structure, and tools but goes for the highlight defensive play sometimes and that leads to people thinking he can defend.Who the hell says Catton is a defensive liability? Catton is not a defensive liability. He just doesn’t make those highlight reel defensive plays. He’s great at winning puck battles despite being smaller just by being in the right place at the right time.Everyone who watches more than a highlights package? He's probably not a very useful player in the NHL, especially with his inflated TOI and stats. You can take the risk that he scores more than expected or finds the next gear, but most of the time you'll be disappointed.
Scott Wheeler just released the latest ranking that shows to be only 11-deep. Should we trade up?
Especially if he's playing wing, and "defensive liability" will be somewhat negated. Not sure what metric was used, but Wheeler even said he was one of the top PKers in the WHLCatton is not a defensive liability. He just doesn’t make those highlight reel defensive plays. Will he ever be Bergeron? No. But he’s fine defensively.
Everyone? Find a single source that says that.Everyone who watches more than a highlights package? He has a lack of engagement, structure, and tools but goes for the highlight defensive play sometimes and that leads to people thinking he can defend.

So no Helenius either, then. He's listed as 5'11".No more drafting players under 6 foot.
Eh, he's close enough and proven against men.So no Helenius either, then. He's listed as 5'11".
I'm on the same page about Catton, personally. I just don't think hard and fast rules are very helpful.Eh, he's close enough and proven against men.
Catton looks like the type of prospect DWJr. is texting Ron Francis day and night about drafting at #8 (derogatory).
How about "no more drafting players under 6 foot out of junior hockey"?I'm on the same page about Catton, personally. I just don't think hard and fast rules are very helpful.
So had the Sharks won the lottery last year you would have been against drafting Connor Bedard? How about "no more drafting players under 6 foot out of junior hockey"?
So no Canadians or Americans under 6’0”? It’s not Catton’s fault he doesn’t have another option than juniors. Celebrini is the first guy in a long time to play NCAA at age 17, he’s the exception, not the rule. How about "no more drafting players under 6 foot out of junior hockey"?
