Noticed most of the sites have the white retro jersey up. Are we wearing them this season? I want to get Nico but don't know if I should get it with the A or C on it.

Thanks for the heads up! I think I'll get a Hughes. But should I get 86, or 43?

Hi folks! Looking to buy my first ever jersey and I'm going with a #91 Dawson Mercer regular home one. Looks like Hockey Authentic is the way to go right? $250 CAD (roughly $180 USD) is the quoted price.

Nice choice :)

I think most here go with either Hockey Authentic or Cool Hockey.

The fact that it's 10 years is mind blowing too. Their quality is horrific. It's rare when everyone hates a decision, but this is one of those times.

Saw this...

“Fanatics said Tuesday it will manufacture the new NHL uniforms in Canada at the same factory that had been making the NHL’s on-ice uniforms for the last three decades. Over the next 18 months, the company said, it will build teams and expand resources in preparation for the rollout.”

Cool, so they're only going to try and get good at it now that they got the contract, wonderful.

Probably means I'll have to pick up the white and green jersey if I get to the Rock tonight or when I go on Saturday; Adidas hasn't been perfect but it'll still likely be higher quality than what's coming.

I would never buy a current Fanatics jersey (they feel like garbage and I hate that logo on the front) but I can't imagine we won't see a vastly superior product for the official jerseys. I'll give them a chance.

If we can see the differences then someone in the league's purchasing office can as well. Presumably Fanatics will just take over the current factory and run it as it has been running? I do expect a vast gulf between the on ice product and product available to fans however.

didn’t realize they make the mlb jerseys right now but stick a nike label on them. i’m sure the official ones won’t be as crappy as the replicas they produce now but i’m curious to see what changes there are,
if any, to the styles the way reebok changed everything

It's perfectly normal that an organization wins a new type of work before hiring all of the resources necessary. The jokes are fun but the on-ice jerseys will be the same quality as they have been.

This blows because you can assume the quality of the authentic jerseys sold to fans will diminish, but worse than that it's another example of the NHL making bedfellows with lower tier partners than what other pro leagues do and committing to it for longer than you would think is necessary. Finally, it's a blown opportunity to see what a brand with a bolder design vision might have done. Like Adidas did with the reverse retros, you have to assume Nike might have had something innovative to offer there, but fanatics stuff is the blandest imaginable.

Yeah, I don't have any love for Nike or Adidas as companies, but at least the designers at each have demonstrated some big time ambition; the Reverse Retros in the NHL and the City Connect jerseys in MLB have been pretty big hits, and a lot of cool stuff has come out of each. I suppose Fanatics could get their shit in gear and get into bigger ideas like that, but you know the other companies already have those resources all lined up.
