As for the political garbage, there's a certain portion of US media that likes calling other people un-American; and that's why they call someone not signing during an anthem "protesting" when it isn't.

It's quite ironic that they're calling the USWNT players un-American or not patriotic, when they're rooting for the team to lose... because they're full of lesbians and people who want social justice.

I saw an article that "Rapinoe poisoned the USWNT to be unpatriotic" which is just batshit.

When the USWNT actually WAS protesting during the anthem, it wasn't Rapinoe that started it. It was the white, straight and married player, who got a phone call to bring her husband's wallet to a traffic stop; and by the time she got there, the cops had her husband cuffed face down on the asphalt for the crime of driving a nice car while being black.

But the married, Christian woman doesn't fit their narrative, so they say it's the neon-haired lesbian because their whole schtick is "Be afraid of people who are different from you and that you don't understand; so you don't notice we're redistributing your money to CEO's pockets."
Great post. Totally nailed it. On social media...the people celebrating the loss all have a lot in common. Weird. Even if someone doesn't like the activism...it isn't every player. Smdh. I don't understand the hate for people who are different...sigh

Not going to post anymore about the US as there are teams still in this competition that deserve our attention.. here is my reason...

Nigeria so close to getting the opener with a spell of tremendous pressure.

Nigeria the better team for most of the half. Plumptre hitting the bar with great effort from outside the box.

England struggling with Nigeria's physicality like they did against Haiti. Can't get James into the game. Overturned England penalty was the right call.

Happy that the USA team lost. Nice to see Rapinoe lose personally.

Anyways let’s go JAPAN

What an idiotic play by number 7 on England. Easy red card. Why are stomping on the player on the ground ?

Idiot.

England look completely gassed at this point. That was a moment of frustration.

Always surprises me how bad englands men and women’s team are when you consider the fact that they have the premier league in the country but have no real talent to win.

Difference between English men's and women's national team. The women actually win when it goes to penalties.

Lauren James melted down and the question is if she'll be penalised beyond missing the next game.

England women won the Euro's last year. No real talent to win

Very lucky to come through that game. Nigeria marked Walsh and James out of the game and England didn't have an answer. Russo had a good chance in the first half. Daly's header was their best chance in the second. Walsh didn't look fit but played 120 minutes. Wiegman usually makes subs after an hour but didn't until after James got stupidly sent off.

It’s hilarious to watch a bunch of posters, who don’t watch the sport and clearly don’t know anything beyond the political/culture war part of this, show up to celebrate the US women’s loss bc they’re “social justice warriors”

Maybe I’d like soccer if my favorite tv host/podcaster who rails about the downfall of American society and end of masculinity didn’t highlight all the things these women do that we hate. One day! Maybe in 4 years.

I don’t think you realize how unimpressive that is. England for men and women has been irrelevant for many years on the international level. Then winning one random EURO trophy is not as impressive as you think if they were getting bodied by Nigeria handedly. Not to say Nigeria is bad but with having premier league there and popularity it’s surprising how bad England is internationally.

It’s the equivalent of the NHL existing and Canada being unable to win anything to the likes of team Germany.

I don’t care about team America as a whole and they do seem unlikeable. I don’t want America to win because I don’t think that America needs to rank high in every sport either so it’d be nice if they came down a few pegs. Maybe you’re reading too much into it and you shouldn’t take it so personally if people want team X to lose. People want teams to lose for any reasons all the time.

I didn’t like team France for Mbappe. People didn’t like Argentina because of their goalie. People didn’t like Portugal because they don’t like Ronaldo. For example I’m rooting for Japan because I like their playstyle and players.

Get over it, it’s sports. That’s how it works.

Oh I don’t take it personally buddy. I’m not the one seeking out the little corner of soccer fans on a hockey board to declare my happiness over a sport I allegedly am not interested in.

I’m pretty apathetic myself. This team was rather boring. I’m entertained by the posters getting emotional over this team losing.

So your apathy towards people having feelings towards a team is interesting to you. Congratulations you are now understanding how the concept of sports and fan dynamics. Took you a while to get the concept but it seems like you made a break through. Emotional and mental attachments to X teams.

No I’m used to it. It’s a hockey site. Hockey fans are the most emo fans around. Always in their feelings about something. Someone always doesn’t know how to play trh right way. And that’s ok. Let’s just not pretend there’s a scenario where the posters who just hate the team for non sporting reasons come around to liking it. It’s a waste of everyone’s time.

England population is 55 million

Nigeria is 213 million

England should be played off the pitch, frankly.
