All-Encompassing Womens Soccer Thread

Wow.

Big comeback.

I'm happy for them. I thought the goal off the corner was going to make them spiral. I guess it was me that spiralled instead. ;)

Vlatko going with the exact same 11 against the Dutch, which is definitely a choice. Probably doesn't feel comfortable enough to start Lavelle yet, but still unsure about going with the same 11 against 2 vastly different opponents

Forever?

That seems a bit heavy-handed, no? They did win Olympic gold not that long ago.

It might seem heavy handed, but I'm being sincere.

All evidence suggests that Canada is not a serious nation when it comes to soccer. I mean, the players are feuding with the federation, bankruptcy is looming, and the headstart Canada had against less gender progressive nations is disappearing. Failing to advance beyond the group stages would be a pretty massive harbinger of bad things to come.

I don't see another Sinclair on the horizon.

All that being said, it's probably more accurate to say I won't continue to invest heavily in the WNT if they settle into being a mid-level team at the international level.

The women's program has a ton of good talent, the problem is the dysfunction with the organization. The men's program lacks depth of talent and has the dysfunction.

I don't dispute they have lots of good talent. I question whether it will be enough keep them in the top tier.... a side that has the quality to win the WC going forward.

I think they have the talent pipeline to sustain being competitive, top 10 anyways. The organization is way too dysfunctional and corrupt to achieve that though.

I hope so. It's that today's match seemed to reinforce the idea that they don't yet have the young talent to replace the veterans. This is not a critique, but when you need to sub in Sinclair and Schmidt to stop being outplayed by a lower rated team, your team has some problems.

My grandfather immigrated from the NED and the US is gonna be even better in 4 years so any result is fine with me.

really frustrating half. Dutch look good in possession, but haven't generated a whole lot. Got turned way to easily in the build up to the goal. Something has to change at half time because you can't play another half like that.

Need Lavelle out there, but I don't think at the expense of Demelo
