You don't pull the ****ing goalie when you're only down one on a POWER PLAY!!! The opposing team Can shoot at the empty net from anywhere on the ice and not have to worry about icing! For **** sakes

that was beyond stupid, but how stupid is the predictable, slapshot, seen from a mile a way, that's easily blocked and shot right back down the ice...

Yeah, a 3x 40 goal scorer.

WHAT A JOKE! Whos this guy think he is?

Oh, I forgot, this fanbase is allergic to talent. My mistake.

And when we bring talent in, we get a coach who destroys it.

Only in NY.

May be time to switch to the Hawks full-time. Last year was as good as its gonna get for this franchise in recent years. Dont see such a crazy/amazing season happening again for a long time, let alone contending. That was truly a special season.

No. You know who is better at being the hawks? The ****ing hawks. If we try to play that style they, along with a handful of other teams, will blow us away.

I do agree that last season might have just been a special squad, I wasn't for the Nash trade when it went down. I wanted to give it a chance, and I still think perhaps we're just built for the playoffs like the kings were last year, but right now yeah it's not working out.

Very true. I think there was about a minute left. Fake it, get Kopecky out of position, then get a better shot or hit an open man with a pass.

Of course they will return to form because they will be FREE from Torts defensive game plan..

And I hope Gaborik and Richards have HUGE games against us like every ex-Ranger does just to spite the naysayers.

Its a virtual guarantee theyll be moved and return to form elsewhere while we continue to struggle. Thats as much as Ranger hockey as ive ever known it.

so what are we last in the league for goals scored? how does a coach who says we dont practice offense still have a job

Two times this month the rangers were on winning streaks and torts made line up changes and roster moves and rangers lose .. Why changes when winning ?

Ill go on record And say this. Torts will never win a cup here. You can trade this guy or that guy. Sign this guy or that guy And It won't matter. THE problem is HIM

Yeah, Torts is such a **** coach he'll never coach a team to a cup.

Perhaps the current team and coach are just not meant for each other. Not that either are bad. Just maybe this team was overhauled way too much and there was a loss in translation with Torts that can't be fixed.

I don't care what Torts did in Tampa Bay. I really don't give a flying ****.

I don't know who the answer is if Torts is fired, but I am getting sick of this garbage.

We don't coach offense. :help:

You do know that was 9 years ago, right? When Richards was actually good. When the game was much different and more focused in the neutral zone. When he had young MSL, Lecavalier, Richards, and well as Stillman and Dan Boyle? He's not winning a Cup in this new era. Unless he completely changes his stupid system.

My post from April 16, 2011. Still the same problems and outdated coaching two years later...

When the players do not take it upon themselves to deviate from the plan, this is an utterly simple offensive system to shut down. The forwards collapse too low, are isolated from utilizing the players on the point, so our forwards are generally playing a down low 3 on 5 in the offensive zone.

The Rangers may not be laden with top-end talent, but I don't think the roster is horrible either. But the opposition's book on us is not complex. We don't effectively use all 5 players in the offensive zone, so collapse on our forwards and we generally won't score all too much. And our PP won't offset this because it looks like we never practice our PP. I'm not suggesting we have a Cup-caliber roster. But that's all the more reason for an effective offensive system that efficiently uses all 5 players in the offensive zone. It's all the more reason to drill fundamentals - like passing, breakouts, and play without the puck - into the players' heads. I mean ****, a well coached AHL team will generate more chances and create more rebounds than the Rangers. And that, to me, is an issue of a weak system and poorly executed fundamentals.

I generally like Torts and find him entertaining, but he's a very weak coach in today's brand of hockey, who seems unable to adapt to it at all.

Gaborik has been THE only consistent goal scorer we've had REGARDLESS of who we brought in. Jagr has one dynamite year here. 54 goals.. Since then, Gaborik has been THE ONLY CONSISTENT OFFENSIVE TALENT. So lets bring in conn smythe Richards and what happens? 66 pts down from 91 and 78 despite better linemates and was invisible for almost the whole first half last year and most of all of this year. Why?

Why is it that no matter who the hell we bring in here outside of Gaborik doesnt play to their offensive potential? because the system SUCKS

Welcome to New York.. WHEre the offensively talented players forget how to play hockey while having to dive in front of 100mph shots when you have a world class goalie behind them.

Your fellow Ranger fans dont appreciate talent when they see it.

Check the odds of a team tying a game pulling the goalie or going down by 2.. which do you think is greater?

Talk about a lack of understanding the concept...the goal at this point in the game is to increase your chance of scoring a goal and increase variance. Whether you give up an ENG and lose by 2 or don't pull the goalie and just run out the clock and lose by 1 is effectively the same thing neglecting a tiebreaker of a tiebreaker. Obviously it is more likely a team will go down by 2 than tie the game but it is more likely they will the tie the game with the goalie pulled than it is if they leave him in the net.

Wrong! Richards played with better goal scorers when he played at Dallas.

Surprise; he already has coached a team to a cup.

silly me, I didn't realize it was still 2004. The same way you say Ranger fans are living in the past because Gaborik isn't the player he once was, you can't use the same excuse for Torts, but good try.:handclap:

It's obviously impossible, but still kind of fun to think about: Tortorella and Richards to Florida for Campbell and Dineen. Florida's desperate for some help at center (and, honestly, Richards would probably fit well on a line with Huberdeau) and really has a collection of bottom 6 players, plus Huberdeau and Versteeg (aka, TONS OF JAM). We've been desperate for a PP trigger-man and an offensive minded coach.

It really is a pretty good to great fit for both teams. Too bad it's impossible.

Can't stand it when all three forwards are behind the net trying to dig the puck out because we either...a. lose it and an odd man rush goes the other way, b. get the puck then throw it to the point with no traffic in front for an easy save, or c. get the puck just to turn it over 5 seconds later:shakehead:cry:
