No one is responding to Torts and his method of coaching...Horrible play. Mike Sullivan is a bigger piece of garbage

For some reason, I really got a good chuckle. It's like someone saying "this guy is crazier than an outhouse rat. A few screws loose and missing the instructions manual. BUT, this other guy is a bonafide mother****er.

This. He seems to think that his system can beat any team in the league. It cannot. And other teams have caught on to us, and are exploiting our system.

But he'll just keep saying to "stick with the game plan."

This system yielded a #1 seed in the east last year - but yea I know, thats full of excuses.

If Torts is going to continue to field a team thats not willing to get its collective nose dirty like last season, then yes, a change to the system and a change to this team's tactics is needed.

It comes down to what you think is easier - having the players play and battle harder, or having a stubborn coach alter his views.

Unless Torts gets fired, which he wont this season, I think you should be rooting for this team to grow a pair of balls.

Are the players starting to tune him out? And Torts is a stubborn coach. I don't see how you can argue against that. He never changes anything except for line combos during a game.

Its exactly what I am trying to say...:yo:

YAWN...ahhhh... just woke up...is he still our coach ??? He is...OK...time to go back to sleep...wake me up when the deed is done . ;)

Just buy a Cell Phone for Scotty Bowman and let him coach from home...better than what we have now...at least he won't get supended for throwing water bottles at women in the crowd .

pierre is the ultimate piece of **** d bag and would not be a good fit in ny.. The rangers need a change but not him

there are not many options. i hate pierre's personality, but the guy knows the game. they have a motivating coach right now-- they don't have the technique/strategy right now and that's what baldy brings

Anybody watching Torts' post-game? Basically saying he doesn't coach offense and wants them to figure it out. Only coaches defense.

I have to agree ...I would not mind Dave Cameron from the Ottawa club...very hard working coach . Took his team to the Memorial Cup...but lost . Was World Junior coach...but lost to USA...no shame on that one...they had a good club in USA . He is a bright coach and has paid his dues...might be time for a fresh new look .

Dave is also an eye for an eye type of guy . He had a lot to do with the way the Ottawa club is also performing...and we have witnessed that first hand .

I said this when he was first hired: Tortorella is not a tactician, he's a motivator. And motivators should be hired when teams are on the verge, but need an extra push. The mistake Sather made (what? Sather making a mistake? Shocker) is that he hired the wrong sort of coach for the wrong group of players. It would be great if they hired a guy like Tortorella now, after the "developer" coach that they should have hired when they hired him. Everything with this club is done backwards.

True, to an extent. Although being a pure motivating coach usually means you don't have much shelf life.

Honestly, I am not too big on pure motivating coaches. Torts systemic/tactical decisions are just not worth the motivating aspect.

A smart coach will out coach Torts no matter how motivated his players are...

Its not shocking, although I can't imagine the players willingly cycling pucks down low constantly without Torts supervision.

I take it is as a deflection..

I'm sure there are coaching options available...I just mentioned Cameron because I also know him and he wants a head coaching job soooooo bad . Who else would be on a list of interest .

Maybe someone should stand up to Torts. I recall hearing/reading stories that Messier would pull this move against Keenan to cool the volatility.

If someone does, they really need to put that on video, cause I would loooove to see it. The guy really is a paper tiger; all he can do is scream and yell.

My only hope is Detroit completely ***** the bed and Babcock becomes available this summer.

Firing Tortorella for Lindy Ruff is like replacing Stalin with Hitler.

I don't think that there will be a coaching change. I think it took about a 10 game losing streak for the Rangers to finally terminate Tom Renney. Would highly doubt that this club will lose that many games. I still think they will squeeze into the playoffs but the signs are starting to appear anyway that there is something no so kosher in the Rangers room.

Maloney called out the grinding style today in the post game

Tortorella made mention today in the post game that the club had to stay together

Can't say that torts has lost the room, but it's of course blatantly obvious that team and coach have completely underachieved so far.

I very much agree with this:

Seth Rothman ‏@RothmanHockey

#Rangers are struggling, I think, b/c Tortorella's system is one in which you must be conditioned. Training camp did not allow that to hapen

As an outsider lookin in,,,,,,,,,,,I think Barry Trotz would be a great coach in New york ! He is one cat that gets the most out of his players year in and year out. He seems to have the type personality that players respect and play hard for.I think for whatever reason the media respects him as well, albeit Nashvilles media is nothing compared to NY or Philly etc.

Callahan and Richards came to Torts and told him very early in the season he was riding the team too hard in practice. That was 2 months ago - no improvements to the conditioning whatsoever, it seems. Take a close look at all 5 players as they move up and down the ice - you'll very rarely see more than a couple of them moving their feet.

If his players come to him with the same stuff now, he should tell them to go **** themselves, especially Richards

What Pierre is everyone talking about to replace Torts? Just jumped in on the last two pages??

Pierre McGuire. Absolutely a joke his name was brought up.

Doubt Nashville lets him go. If he did, I would be pretty happy with Trotz coming in over Torts.
