He won't play in the top six?

Fans of teams who he didn't choose will giggle uncontrollably?

Is this a 'whose buried in Grant's tomb' question?

Then say Vesey was told he wouldn't get top six minutes by their team and why he didn't sign.

If he cares about it, I just hope he doesn't look bad. He would be young enough to change that anyway.

I heard Stamkos and Yzerman sent him an edible arrangement and he's now considering Tampa Bay. And he's going to accept 1$ less than the max just to troll all the fans who hate how Florida teams have a small advantage for once.

Wouldn't mind him on our third line next to Filppula and Callahan. Would provide some bottom six scoring we need. It's not happening though. We don't have the money and we have Namestnikov needing more minutes this year.

If Vesey thinks an NHL team will actually follow through on a promise of top six minutes regardless of performance then he is incredibly naïve.

I think they are aware of who might be bluffing and who is serious. Teams with coaches who are not known for gifting young players with top 6 minutes and power play time will not doubt have that marked as a minus in their evaluation. It may not matter though if Vesey values other factors more though. From the sound of things he is looking for prime playing time with players who are going to help him pad his stats so he can cash in on his second contract...if he can do that close to home or win a cup in the process even better.

Preds offered him a top 6 spot on a playoff roster, no income tax, and a year off his contract. He turned it down after reportedly telling the team he would sign, attend every prospect camp, work with our director of player development weekly (if not more), and stating in numerous articles and interviews that he was loyal, etc., etc.

This is a hilarious farce. Talented but entitled. If he signs in Chicago, he may be one of the most hated players in Nashville without even playing a game.

I see the disconnect there. I get it. It's a feeling I get. It also comes out with the potential top 6 demands, etc, etc. I guess the whole situation with the Predators really sits wrong with me. But meh, it is his right, and it is his career. Good luck to him.

All depends on the team, how they're constructed and how he performs. Even he knows that if he doesn't preform despite being given a legitimate chance, he won't stay there for long - regardless of what they told him in the meetings. And that's especially true for a team that's a contender like PIT or CHI.

This thread needs to die. I will forever despise Vesey solely on the basis of this thread.

why do you keep clicking on it then? it's like... very... very... veeerryyy easy to just ignore bud.

i got to agree it's been dragging and people want to know... but what's making it worst is people feeling like they need to let the world know that they don't like it. this whole thing would be like... half shorter is people would just stop whining

I kinda want him to circle back and sign with Nashville. People would be pissed.

Exactly what I was thinking. I mean realistically, it seems he's wise enough to consider all his options carefully. You'd have to think Nashville would be a team he'd get a chance at top-6 minutes with. And a couple more small parts and they're a cup-contender. You honestly could of been drafted by a lot worse teams...

As a Habs fan, I'm hoping for the Leafs. Their fans have gone through so much, and dang would the addition of Vessey make them that much more fun to watch next year.

I couldn't agree more. That's why I find this whole scenario so odd. Vesey must be thinking that he had better perform or else, regardless of where he ends up now. At the end of the day the goal in the NHL is to win for obvious reasons. Vesey has got to think if he does go to a contender right away he will have a huge target on his back.......and still have one on even if he goes to a less developed team.

So here is the info from the day?

Howard Berger @Berger_BYTES
Source: #Leafs made an "outstanding" pitch for Jimmy Vesey. "Don't be surprised if he chooses Toronto - a good, up-and-coming team."

Mike Harrington @BNHarrington
I'm hearing this as well. #Sabres far more alive than I felt they were when week began.

By all accounts yesterday's meeting between Bruins & Jimmy Vesey was a good one & message from B's brass was solid

Mike Grinnell ‏@MikeGrinnell_ 4h4 hours ago
Text from source close w/ Vesey camp. "He reallllllly likes the Devils."

Chris Botta @ChrisBottaNHL
Told Islanders are right in contention for Jimmy Vesey with other finalists. Close to home. Good fit with young forwards.

Man, 5 way custody would be a cluster

Also, if Vesey signs with Buffalo and calls chicken wings buffalo wings, another team can take him for free. Don't need none of that blasphemy :sarcasm:
