Let's just put it this way... You wouldn't be defending his actions if there wasn't a chance he'd sign with the Rangers. You probably wouldn't have even responded to this thread

That's bull ****.

I'm defending it even though he has no interest in playing for Philly and will most likely go to a division rival.

Here's the problem. You're thinking about this from your point of view. You have absolutely no idea what Vesey is thinking, but because you think this is "immoral", you decide to label Vesey as such, which is wrong.

It's great that you don't want to be the guy who "failed to be loyal", but guess what? You're not Vesey, and Vesey isn't you. Based on what has been said, Vesey wants to be closer to home, and using what was given to him in the CBA, he has the chance to do that, let alone give himself a chance to play and live nearly anwhere he wants. That's a tough thing to pass up, and you just don't understand how it feels to be in that position because you aren't in that position. So, instead of giving a 22 year old kid the benefit of the doubt, you decide to get on your moral high horse and lambaste him for being "stuck up" and "picky". It's ridiculous.

So why hasn't he signed with Boston yet? If that was THE reason why he's given two teams the cold shoulder... Shouldn't Vesey to Boston be done already?

It's envious bitterness is what it is.

How can you say that when you don't know me? lol. Not envious of him in the slightest. Pointing out potential character issues.. And if they end up being reported down the line, I will enjoy posting my replies in this thread.

Not a sabres or leafs fan, but im weirdly hoping he ends up on one of those teams

Flyers fan living in Toronto area. Last thing I want is him in Toronto, I bet you can imagine the media. Btw according to Leafs fans this guarantees them the cup

I just don't see the fit with Toronto, but who knows. Most feel this way on the Leafs board too.

Yeah no why would you be, he's a professional Hockey player about to cash in on a max ELC and set himself up for a quick turn around to a lucrative second deal, while having a Harvard Education. Nothing to be desired there

And you really think that he was gonna sign with the team he ultimately signs with without hearing what everyone has to say after waiting months to do so...what a silly notion to put forward that he'd sign with anyone even Boston the day he becomes a FA and ignore everyone else. Doesn't hurt to listen, could be something to regret if you don't though

I understand that they are in the TO organization but his dad is based in Boston and his brother is still in school in Maine isn't he?

So is he going to have a decision show on ESPN to tell us where he's going to take his talents to?

I respect how Vesey and this camp have managed the situation. They said from day one he'd be going to UFA, then on day one of UFA said this ain't happening over night.

It really exposes how the media creates stories, hype and drama themselves. Then the worst part is how they will then talk for 30 minutes about how they are tired of the story.

Not whining. He gets a once in a lifetime opportunity. Organisations show true interest in him... He gets a chance some kids dream their whole lives about but never get to accomplish and yet he's picky about which team he plays for. It's stupid. Take your ELC. Spend your 2 years in the city to see if you like it, THEN make your decision... You can always request a trade of your rights afterwards if it's so bad.

So your issue is with the rule, not the player. He's not a "bratty kid" for choosing where he wants to play. And this is only his 4th day of free agency...

That you view taking the opportunity to control your own fate as a character flaw is pretty telling.

But, trying to ignore your bias...

He better be a pretty DAMN good player... And I mean top 6 quality if he thinks so highly of himself that he should draw this out as long as it has been.

Going to be pretty embarrassing if he's not fit for the league, which is very possibly the case.
