What if he signs with a team and then gets demoted to the AHL out of suckage...wouldnt that be something

Knowing how this is going so far, he probably wants a NMC

I think he signs with the Sabres, they traded for his rights and I think he will see that as a huge part of going that extra step for his services. He just wanted to go through the UFA process but Buffalo is up and coming and he'll probably be in their top 6.

Saw a report that hudler's signing by the end of the weekend as well, so wonder if these two are related, and he goes to say chicago if they miss out

Going off of McKenzies tweet, I'd say it's 95% likely he signs today.

I wonder who that team was who called in....

Why would he care who traded for his rights? Nashville drafted him and stayed in touch with him for four years and that didn't seem to matter.

Can this picky brat sign already? Sheesh. You shouldn't be able to choose the NHL city you go to as a kid. You should just suck it up and sign with whoever drafted you... Doesn't mean you have to stay after your contract is up...

Other than the city what exactly makes them the best connected to everything leafs? Yes Leafs have some promising prospects however so do 29 other teams. Don't be fooled by the hype until proven. Too funny year after year some leaf fans do this thing and question why one of the most disrespected fan bases in the league. It does make for good leaf jokes lol.

This doesn't make any sense.

What makes them best connected to everything Leafs? I don't even know what that means

The Leafs have a top 3 prospect pool and it's arguably #1. They have some very good established players, and 3 of the best prospects to (likely) enter the NHL this season in Mitch Marner,

Do you not think Babcock is the best coach in the world? Even with anti-Leafs bias, he is at worst, 2nd.

And our management is one of the best ones in the league, that's undeniable,

So, what are you questioning?

I just don't see him not signing with Boston. I really don't. If not Boston then I think he chooses the Rangers, unfortunately.

Change the rules to a mandatory 4 year ELC and then straight free agency then.

The amount of whining about a hockey player using the rights granted to him by the CBA is truly embarrassing.

Not whining. He gets a once in a lifetime opportunity. Organisations show true interest in him... He gets a chance some kids dream their whole lives about but never get to accomplish and yet he's picky about which team he plays for. It's stupid. Take your ELC. Spend your 2 years in the city to see if you like it, THEN make your decision... You can always request a trade of your rights afterwards if it's so bad.

"* The Penguins really don't have the cap space and aren't sounding very serious."

LOL! I mean we all know the guy is a ****ing idiot... but any moron can look at the roster guess that Dupuis (who's said multiple times that he'll never play again) will go on LTIR and the Pens will have around 1.2m in cap space. But naw, no way we could fit in 925k.

2 yr @ $925,000 cap hit, $3.775M AAV with the max bonuses which he'll get. So yeah... that's over 1.2m

yeah that's gonna happen, Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel unrestricted free agents at 22.

I mean the PA is always trying to lower the UFA age, which is the main issue here.

It should be 24.
