John Mitchell had chemistry with Hagelin in the AHL last season. He did a decent job on the team. Newbury is tough and has some skill obviously to get 55 points in the AHL in 61 games. Let's see what happens. I remember that Mitchell/Hags combo sparked the team in a game against Philly last season. Hags did take off after that and Mitchell went to the 4th line, but if this gets Kreider rolling, would the worst thing to happen be Newbury on the 4th line at some point or until they can move for a player or two at the deadline?

My previous post says that it's worth a shot. I just don't like newbury.

Also, I think I'll credit Hagelin for helping himself. Newburys whopping coffee cup here seems negligible.

Sorry, that wasn't totally clear. In Hagelins case, Mitchell provided for Hagelin what we have to hope Newbury provides for Kreider.

Okay that makes so much more sense. It's all good.

Johnny Malkin is a much better player than Newbury though which is why I'm sour on this. But I'm more than willing to eat crow served by Newbury if he comes to play and does it well.

Edit- also I'm on my phone and I've never hated the word "Newburyport" as much as I have today.

This is the call up thread.

It has nothing to do with Dale Weise or ****ing PA Parenteau.

Take that discussion to the Sather thread.

Why not both? Pyatt is useless and Powe indirectly helped Asham's goal the other night by laying a hit on the guy going for Asham while he had the puck

I like Newbury, but powe is a necessity on the pk..

I agree with this. Powe is one of the better PKers on the team, and Noob is a really solid player and impressed me in the few games he's played for us this season. If I had to pick I'd go with Powe, especially because we'll be adding Zucc for the lack of offense in Powe.

We now have a surplus of bottom six forwards. Really like what Newbury brings to the club. He's nasty out there and he's more offensively gifted than Boyle, that's for sure. Wish we could find a way to have both Newbury and Asham in the lineup.

To me Newbury--Konopka--not a lot of difference. Konopka's the better and more frequent fighter. Newbury is probably a little bit better of a hockey player. Kris could serve a somewhat similar to Zenon purpose. Both are prone to dumb penalties at times. Grit and energy from your 4th line guys. Team has a bit more spark and is a little less soft.

When Zucc comes I think Pyatt is the one to be scratched.

Nada. He was supposed to be traveling with Zucc so it looks like both will be with the team in Ott with the team if that report is correct.

He is in NY getting his physical done today or tomorrow is what ive read.
He flew to NY, Zucc flew directly from Oslo to Ottawa which suggests that Mats is the one of the two that will be joining the team first.

with 14 F why is Newbury still up? Get him down, he's never been a consistent NHL player. Great in the AHL..........just go with Miller 3rd line and Boyle 4th line next game.........then trade Bolyle by the deadline
