I would assume if everyone is ready to go that Newbury still plays, he played with Kreider in CT and I don't recall if he played with Miller too. So that being said they are probably trying to find some chemistry and goal scoring and get some guys going.

Newbury 3rd line center... they do miss Dubinsky and Anisimov. Newbury is not at NHL player at all.

i think they brought newbury mainly because he has good chemistry with kreider. both miller and boyle missed kreider open a lot of times on thursday.

Newbury never works here. I'd rather give Thomas another shot. Newbury probably provides da JAM though.

Interesting...would've rather seen Thomas or Haley back up, but Kreider basically credits Newbury with his scoring burst down in the Whale:

It's worth a shot, Kreider's played with the guy consistently (more than he can say for anyone else in the current lineup) and they developed some synergy. See where it goes.

If Torts doesn't play them on the same line, then...well...this call up is pointless.

Should've went with Ferriero. But, if the chemistry between Kreider and Newbury exists, and Torts isn't comfortable going with Powe as a center, then I guess it's the right call.
