I agree! The 1st fight was spontaneous. The 2 teams have wanted to work out some grudges, but it wasn't "staged". The others started up because they felt they had to stand up for their teammates to "send a message". So they might be thought of as "unnecessary".

All the fighting would have happened at the same time 20 years ago

Yeah Chief I think the players and coaches in this game know more about intensity than you. Just a guess.
Good thing I’m neither a player or a coach. As a fan, it’s inorganic and unnecessary. If you can’t get up for a game like this without someone punching someone in the face before the game has even started, you don’t belong there. And that’s Mr. Chief to you, Sport.

Sometimes you just want to punch someone in the face or are you a pacifist?

Everyone’s entitled to their opinion but it’s just comical to be complaining about it. The players are fired up, the fans in the arena are loud and going nuts, yet some guy sitting on the couch is like “this is stupid.” Like cmon Mr. Chief, lighten up and enjoy it. There’s tension between both sides and everything about the game has been awesome.

It’s fantastic that USA is winning and it’s icing on the cake to see them be more physical

Oh wow extra extra icing on the cake that Deboooer is a coach for Canada

I’m not seeing that. Think you’re pulling that out of thin air.

I mean, he’s fought for the Blues before. 3 times. People that say Parayko is soft are way over exaggerating. He’s not Pronger but he plays a hard, physical game.

Imagine hating intense, rivalry hockey lol. Couldn’t be me.
Again, I didn't think he needed to be Pronger but if you're not gonna be angry giant feeding Nazem Kadri, I don't want to see it now. That's all I'm saying.

The fighting that happens as a reaction to something that happened in the game is one of my favorite things in all of sports. Two guys dropping the gloves to manufacture excitement is plastic and phony. This game didn’t need it to be a great rivalry game anymore than the Sweden-Finland game did. Was that not a great rivalry game?

If USA beats Canada in regulation, they could purposefully lose the Sweden game by a large goal differential to put Sweden into the championship game. (I know they won’t do that.) But Canada runs a real risk of not advancing if they lose in regulation.

I was thinking about that. That seems like one of those things where if you let that happen, Finland would figure out a way to upset USA in the finals. Karma.

Binnington has looked really good tonight but Hellebuyck is just on another planet right now. I’m sure Binnington would be the first to say he should have had the first one, but the second goal was just perfectly placed an inch above the pad and below the blocker.
