Dudley's were awesome. Though, they're kinda lumped in with the Hardy's and Edge/Christian where their best stuff may have been late 90's.
The paroxysm of the Dudleys/Hardys/EC rivalry was 2000 (WM 2000, SS) and 2001 (WM17). So I would definitely say their best stuff was in the 21st century.

The No Mercy ladder match that launched EC and the Hardys was October 1999.

Well, as a tag team, they are pretty irrelevant. Sure, they have fun matches, but they are nothing special. There are PLENTY of high flyers and spot monkeys. They are better than most, but they are not special. They suck as characters and their matches are spotfests. Well done spotfests for the most part, so I am willing to have them in the conversation of best tag teams of the 21st Century even though they would be pretty low in my top 10.

Now, if you want to talk about influence on the BUSINESS itself, then, yes, definitely, 100% the most influential. They basically took over ROH, they did All in, they were instrumental to the creation of AEW. They also revolutionized merch in a way. They did A LOT on the business side and they also did a GREAT job marketing themselves as way more important/talented than they really are. At the end of the day, being able to sell yourself is a VERY important component of wrestling and I think they have been the best at it especially pre-AEW.
If you told any of the other tag teams the Bucks have ever worked with that they aren't any good in the ring (while using social media meme phrases like "spotfest" or "spot monkeys) they would laugh right in your face. Perfect example: They made Private Party look like (pardon the pun) a million bucks and those guys haven't come close to having a match like that against anyone else.

I never said they were not good in the ring. I said that, for the most part, I was not that interested in their kind of wrestling (spotfests, which their match are).

I said they were great athletes, but were nothing special as they are plenty of great athletes who can do the moves they do. I said their real influence on the wrestling business is more on the business side.

Oh, and what did that match ended up doing for Private Party? Absolutely nothing at all as they have been booked like shit ever since.

no one is saying the bucks can't work; it's that they focus on showing off how athletic they are rather than focusing on storytelling. personally, work rate matches don't impress me - especially if there's no psychology. this isn't just a bucks problem - a lot of wrestlers focus more on how many bumps they can take and it's stupid

They also started a small trend of workers prioritizing getting 5 stars from Meltzer over anything else forgetting Dave is an audience of 1.

This is the exact same "Old man yells at clouds" take people back in the day had about Ric Flair.

I guess all those Gabe era ROH shows I went to where guys were all trying to have great matches before anyone outside of SoCal had ever heard of the Bucks never happened.

I have a hard time taking people who say the Bucks matches don't have any storytelling seriously. Honestly go back and watch Hangman and Omega/Bucks and tell me that match wasn't telling a story. Bucks and FTR is the same thing. Just because the matches tend to be spot heavy and you don't like how they sell doesn't mean they aren't telling a story in the match.

Couldn't the same logic be applied to people that get mad over shit that Dave likes? It is one dudes opinion who cares if he likes something you don't like. The entire discourse around Meltzer is f***ing odd.

Better than you bay bay is the BEST thing in wrestling since the first iteration of DX. I love it so much. This is the only way for TK to get MJF as a face... I hope he doesn't f*** it up

It is super fun, but it won't be super long. You gotta turn one against the other at some point and it will be glorious.

They gotta wait at least a few months though, I think.

You don't have to though. They've been needing to turn MJF face for way too long now.... he's too popular with the crowd. This is the inroads to make that happen
