I would also be more sympathetic to this if it wasn't for the fact Punk very publicly blasted them moments for and outright called for anyone who had a problem with him to come say it to his face. Like how did you expect that to go? No shit they flew off the handle.
My hang up in all of this, and why I tend to lean that Punk is the bigger asshole in this sea of assholes is how stupidly sensitive he got over Page's promo.
Like folks have said way way worse to him on a live mic. Kingston, Mox, MJF, you name it.
Also the comment about Page not listening to vets was much ado about nothing too. He got asked if he would get advice from Punk and Sting, and all he said was if he felt he needed to he would but his preference was to learn through trial and error.
Punk didn't like that because how dare someone not want his advice?
I think Page's promo referenced Cabana, and the Bucks were slimily leaking stuff about Punk supposedly trying to get Cabana fired.
I think Punk being the de facto top guy and draw since he came in has rubbed "the clique" the wrong way and they tried to politick him out not unlike what I'm thinking they did with Cody Rhodes.
I don't know if this is a Punk issue. It seems to be a Bucks and even possibly Kenny issue (and Kenny's probably my favorite wrestler so that sucks for me to say).
Since AEW started, Kenny and the Bucks and their lack of taking the business seriously or a lack of Tony filtering their wacky ideas has led to quite a bit of the bad TV I've seen on AEW. You can't have a comedy heel world champion, for example. That spot needs to be regarded with some seriousness.
Unfortunately, things have been run like a day care up until now and Daddy needs to come home. And maybe bring some adults in to help out on the creative side and Talent Relations side.
