There has been no public comment from AEW or Black on this story but it is worth noting that Black is one of the names that Triple H pushed in NXT and WWE has reportedly reached out to several AEW talent in recent weeks. Dave Meltzer reported the following in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter about people who were contacted:

"Regarding the talent approached by WWE, as we noted last week it was multiple people, generally the people who had worked with Paul Levesque in the past in NXT. Several told AEW which led to the legal letter sent to Levesque, Stephanie and Nick Khan. There was at least one person who asked for his release, which hasn’t been granted and the person has a long time left on his deal."
I could see it being Miro, Black, MJF, or Jericho. Only reason I add Jericho is for money reasons. He is killing it in AEW and has had a ton of quality feuds, but if WWE throws Lesnar terms at him I could see him going for it.

probably Andrade, Miro, or Black.
Guys who were disillusioned by WWE, went to AEW thinking they would kill it and do the "I'll show them, they'll see!" but then they bomb out of another promotion.

AEW sources have confirmed Kyle O'Reilly recently underwent surgery but would not comment on the nature of it. O'Reilly implied he underwent neck fusion surgery on his Instagram Stories. We will O'Reilly the best for a quick and painless recovery.

There's also been a LOT of talk over the last 24 hours about the status of Malakai Black. Raj Giri of WrestlingInc.com is reporting Black asked for an AEW release, citing personal issues and his mental health but it has not been granted. We can confirm that in speaking to closes source to Black, there has been a personal situation weighing heavily on him and he's privately talked about taking a long, perhaps permanent, break from professional wrestling, in order to deal with the issues. Giri also reported that how Black has been presented has weighed on him, and obviously, he hasn't been in the top mix for some time while having a rep for being very creative and driven. Dave Scherer and I talked about this on today's We Don't Need No Stinkin' Name Show. It's a hard situation for all sides. Obviously, AEW doesn't want to create a precedent where anyone who could potentially return to WWE gets a chance, but if something is wrong with Black's mental or spiritual health, you also don't want to chance him or someone else getting accidentally hurt, either. It's not an easy position for anyone involved to be in, obviously. We wish Black and his family all the best as he navigates his personal issues. As of today, he is still scheduled for All Out and is still with the company.

But, but, but they needed to do Undisputed vs Elite NOW!

Cole = Injured
O'Reilly = Severely injured
Fish = Cut

But yeah, the Bucks were totally not dodging the FTR match :laugh:

Black is the only one of those guys who fits the description Meltzer gave. I could see Jericho going back eventually but don't think it's him asking for his release right now. Someone mentioned Andrade but I'm pretty sure he's been working in AAA too and WWE won't allow that. It's gotta be Black or an outside chance that it's FTR or Keith Lee.

Or Miro.Guy is rarely used in anything good

I admit I am biased. I don't like the Bucks, and I really like FTR.

But FTR/Bucks for all the belts to determine who is the best tag team in the world is the money tag match above all tag matches. The only other match that could come close would require a WWE crossover and even then it's debatable if it would be bigger.

And if not that, at the very least FTR should get their AEW tag title match as they have been ranked number 1 forever.

A throw away Trios match with Warlow is just nonsense booking.

Yeah FTR vs. Young Bucks seemed like the most obvious tag match to book in the world for their for their biggest PPV. AEW has lost so much steam the last few months.

I'm not into Swerve/Lee at all. They seem thrown together randomly. I love the Acclaimed and I'm hoping they'll win the titles. Long overdue.

Acclaimed don’t need to be champions if you’re trying to get to another FTR/Young Bucks feud.

Acclaimed could be the one to beat FTR after a long rain.

I feel like there is a lot of money in the Acclaimed.
There is, you don’t need to blow it by giving them the titles on their first opportunity. The first title win is almost always going to be the biggest. Do it correctly.
