They are EVP and are reportedly in charge of the tag division.

Sure, Tony takes the decision ultimately, but you can be sure those guys lobbied for it.
They are not in charge of anything but themselves and agenting matches

So naive of you to think they would not lobby to be put in that position. There was no need to switch the titles last night. Bucks are not "booking" but they are part of the executive group... of course they have their say.

They were turning Christian, so yes they did have a reason to switch the titles. They didn’t write a story around the young bucks being trying to be the first 2x champs which is why I think the Hardys were supposed to win.

As a casual AEW fan I'm trying really hard to like the product.

But they gotta do something about the size of the roster. You never know who will show up from week-to-week. While that does bring some element of surprise, if you watch and take a liking to a few particular performers and then week 2 and 3 they don't even appear, are you coming back for week 4?

As it stands now you gotta be a pretty hardcore AEW fan to have a good understanding of who all these men and women are.

I want to see AEW grow which means acquiring more and more I'll say "less-hardcore" fans. And I think historically if you look at pro wrestling it's been at it's best with its best storytelling with a tight roster of performers who is get to see weekly.

You could have waited to turn Christian. It was not a rush. I do agree that the initial plan was most likely a Hardy run.

The Bucks being in the match in the first place did not make any booking sense. In hindsight, it saved the match, but it should have been Hardys vs JE two-on-two. The Bucks lost at the PPV.

But they were doing it last night. It was a promoted show and the main event angle.

My guess is that the Hardy's were supposed to win the belts last night and continue their feud with TYB while Jurassic Express begins their program with heel Christian just as it did in actuality.

If that were the case, putting the belts on TYB allows them to keep the Christian/Jungle Boy storyline on schedule and they only need to figure out what direction to go in with the tag titles. Perhaps TYB were supposed to eventually take the titles off the Hardy's anyway.

EDIT; Damn, I'm slow, the two comments above cover it.

My point is that they did not have to do it last night. The Bucks have not been built as contenders at all. It is bad booking.
Well the story is that Christian keeps handing out opportunities and booking triple threat matches. They were going to do the turn upon dropping the titles. They didn’t have to do it last night and I would’ve been fine if they never did it at all, but this was the plan and they have a plan for the feud, and they had to drop the titles to do it.

I think the DON match was just the start of a longer Hardy's/Bucks program. They've been building it up for a while now on their YouTube show, so I doubt it was meant to end with one PPV spotfest with the Bucks putting them over. Probably would've ended up as some long term deal where the Hardy's eventually put over TYB at All Out.

Hopefully the ConChairto wasn't meant to kill off Jungle Boy until July... My wife is going to be LIVID if she doesn't get to mark out for and sing his theme song when we see AEW in Detroit on the 29th...

My exact feeling you dont have to sign EVERY WWE cast off.

Made a big deal about Keith Lee and hes been relegated to tag division.

I mean if you can't handle more than the same 10 people showing up every week and having the same matches, maybe WWE is more your style.

Oh no I don't want the best roster possible because people csn't handle it. Said no promoter, ever.

They're growing pretty good year to year, with a bigger and better roster but why care about facts? Not to mention they basically tell you who is on what show every week.

Amen. They don't get every main event player on every show, and not every storyline gets a full 20 minutes. Sometimes you just get a backstage promo, and that's ok!

I still think they rotate talent in/out of the mix very well. Its extremely rare that they miss the mark on a live event. They jam in SO MUCH story, so much in ring action, a little serious promo work, multiple women's segments, they just hit on everything in almost every show. The matches are usually well above average as well.

I can kind of see both sides here. I would say IMO that AEW does try to somewhat regularly showcase their depth of talent. However, in addition to their 3 hours of TV, you also need to take in Dark, Dark:Elevation and even some of the individual talents YouTube vlogs to really get the full spread, which starts to trend pretty "hardcore".

I know the more "casual" viewpoint, since my wife only watches AEW TV and PPV's and has lamented when some of her faves like Ruby and Anna Jay disappeared from TV for long stretches.

Them running the Pride month commercials for Nyla Rose, who has barely been on TV in 2022, and Sonny Kiss, who hasn't been on TV since November of 2020 kind of validates some of the criticism.

Just my opinion again, but I do think that AEW does handle showcasing their roster a little better than WWE. WWE has this weird thing where they almost get like a hyper focus on certain talents where they have to rigidly stay within the confines of the program they are in which leads to weekly rematches or really dumb "contenders matches" against the actual champion, which negate any need to see the blow off at the PPV. Asuka's been back for not even two months and has had multiple matches against Becky and/or Bianca in some capacity.

Theres a difference between having too many wrestlers and having enough for various deep storylines lmao.

Maybe im too old I grew up on ECW/FMW/WWF/WCW and then CZW/XPW/ROH/IWA-MS/BJW

No one said the same 10 people every week. There is a happy medium here somewhere.

It's about promoting the performers right? So is it beneficial to promote a performer one week and have them disappear the next two? How would a fan even know who the "best performers" are when they are in and out of the line-up for lack of better term. Positioning matters and how a performer is perceived matters. If I'm a promotor and I want a particular performer to get bigger and more brand value, being on TV more will help more than being on TV less.

I'll give you a perfect example. I'm a casual fan. I don't catch every minute of AEW TV. When Scorpio Sky won the TNT title I was like "who the ^%$& is this guy"? I had no idea who he was. Yet here he is winning a title.

Are they really growing? Seems like their ratings are stagnating. Which goes back to my original point. If they want to really grow that company into something of a household name, they need more casual viewership. I think having so little consistency week-to-week hurts in that respect.

And I'm not trying to knock the guy. What I saw he was fine, even really good. At the time I just didn't know who he was, I heard the name before, that was about it.

Him being a champ and being big was a surprise to me. This is how I used to watch him
