Grain of salt, but I've read reports that both the Canadiens and Islanders met/exceeded Sakic's asking price for Matt Duchene. Sakic seems to have either backed out of the deals, or possibly is stalling.

Again, grain of salt...

Bruins trade Liles to Bruins and Dallas gets Future Considerations.

Press conference timed for 12:30am in Peabody Holiday Inn where Liles will hold up and then put on his jersey for the camera OP from NESN.

Then, he'll take it off and go back to the press box.

Liles comments "I really didn't fit in well with the Bruins, but I feel like I will eventually get a chance to prove myself here in... Boston."

He then resumed selling Häagen-Dazs as his break had ended and he, "Couldn't get caught coming back late again since Barry is sick and Paula has been on his case"

I agree on Dahlen but not on the 3rd for Stalberg. Then again, if they come out of the Atlantic it's a big win.

Yeah the Dahlen trade makes so little sense to me...It smells a lot like it can come back and bite them in the butt the ala Forsberg did for Caps when they traded for Erat.
Reason Forsberg comes to mind is because he played in the same leauge Dahlen does (swedish second leauge), and Dahlen has scored more both in the year he got drafted (last year) and this year then what Forsberg did during his draft and second year.

You can just feel Montreal is trying hard to add a stud centre.Clock is ticking on them.Price one more year then a UFA .Weber signed till he is 41 and showing signs now of slowing down far as mobility . They are in win now mode

Losing anything at all off the defence will hurt them. They have no one to step in and fill any voids

Morrow could step in. I mean to do nothing and hold onto guys that could probably net some assets while praying that this team continues its pace since the coaching change is foolish. Last year they were in an even better spot, crashed and burned. To think they somehow are now an elite team and to do nothing while thinking they are a shoe in for the playoffs is exactly the problem with Sweeney. Its rebuild while trying to make the playoffs. That means they slow the rebuild down to keep roster players that could help them squeak in.

I'm with you there. Never been a fan. Would have liked to see some of the other Providence guys get that ice in Boston over Czarnik.

Heard this about Czarnik at Miami of Ohio...and he's their 5th leading all time scorer.

Heard this about Czarnik in PRO...and he put up 61 pts in 68 games as a rookie.

I wouldn't be so quick to write this guy off.

You forgot that he also asked the two people there if they had bought their 50/50 tickets yet and that the jackpot is a big one tonight!

In fairness, he was a rookie in his 23 year old season. If he does that at 19 or 20 ... or even 21 ... I'm impressed. At 23, not so much

The development 'rule of thumb' on forwards is that you are who you are at 22-23. There are exceptions, yes, but that's the rule. So we know who he is and we have lottery tickets with a much higher ceiling at this point. Move him if we can

I do not think they are elite by any means. But I see them playing more attacking and a better powerplay .They are scoring goals now Far as the defence goes I am no fan of Joe Morrow. He can skate and shows some signs of skill but weak without the puck. They have that already in Krug.Far as squeak in.You can bet Bruins Management wants in playoffs .Cannot win if your not in.Hey your probably right about rebuild etc but I doubt Bruins unload any D men thinking about down the road.My bet is their eye is set dead on playoffs.

He has way more speed and skill vs Griffith, can't compare them.
Let's give him 80 games at the NHL level playing center and decent minutes. I have no issues with him playing on the third line.

I do.

Spooner is better in every level. I'm not willing to let someone spend a season running the third line when they can't stick as a winger.

Let him blown the barn doors off the AHL like Vatrano did before giving him a spot on the third line.

If only other GMs in the NHL valued the Bruins prospects the way HF and Sweeney did. I'm really optimistic about this group but actually visiting other teams boards and reading about their prospects makes me realize Boston is barely in the top third in prospect potential.

Exactly. Vatrano was a GOAL per game guy, AND he did it in his 21 year old season. Much much MUCH more impressive (and predictive) than anything Czarnik did.

Which is fine...but again, speed isn't everything.

Is his hockey IQ better? Seth produced for us before but he couldn't do it consistently

Not sure. The speed factor is key though when playing one of the bottom 6 positions. Griffith and his type either have to make it top 6 or they can't play in the league it seems. Czarnik would have a better chance to make an NHL roster IMO.

We put Liles as a top four D and Stempniak as a top line RW.

They are adding to their 3rd and 4th lines. Big difference from trying to fill top line holes with plugs as oppose to adding plugs to bottom line positions.

Not sure this is entirely accurate?

Liles averaged 19:19 after coming to the B's...20:34 for CAR. He was a #4 D down the stretch and was a Top 4 for CAR as well.

Stempniak had 16g/25a/41 pts in 63 games for NJ and played primarily with Henrique and Cammy. He only had 3g/7a in 19 games in Boston, but his 51 point total would have put him 5th on the B's in scoring last year. He ended up 4th for NJ in scoring, despite only suiting up for those 63 games. Stemp was a Top 6 player and scorer for NJ last year and was asked to play the same role in Boston. People like to white wash it now, but last year at the time of the trade, he was better than Filppula, and right there with Vrbata.

So, claims that those guys were "plugs" who were asked to fill roles that they were not accustomed to on their previous teams is nothing more than revisionist history.

Well that is suppose to be Sweeney's strong point. He cannot make good trades and if what you say is true were cooked .lol

Actually, I'd argue that these players were 'overachieving' in their contract years playing minutes on poor teams that inflated their stats.

Once they came to Boston and were tasked with fulfilling those top roles they faltered and their career and actual play was revealed to be bottom pairing, 3rd line players.

Boston bought high on them and once they were moved their production was what it was before and is now.
