A Filppula for Beleskey swap does clear 1.1 million in salary. Plus if Tampa can bring back a young prospect for the system that's a +, plus they can now expose Beleskey in the expansion draft, where they couldn't expose Filppula

A good backup plan for Landeskog. I think Sweeney wants that trade most, but maybe needs to force Sakic's hand with another offer.

I like our defense right now; I don't think it's great, but I don't think we are adding what we need at the deadline via rental. I'd rather solidify the top 9, and move some salary.

I agree. If we can't make the Lando deal work, Filppula is a good plan B

From what I've read, there is a top 1-2 then 3-10 then 11-70. Your mid-first could be worth a 2nd because the range of players being ranked from 10-70 is all over the board.

A draft for scouts to earn their paychecks. Also, I'd take two 2nds over a mid 1st in this draft.

After the last few drafts I like our odds relative to everybody else

I know Beleskey has been an absolute bum this season, but is it really smart to send him to a team closely competing with us for a top 3 spot? He could absolutely find new life down there. On the other hand , if Florida has more games against Toronto Ottawa and Montreal it could be a smart move

Weird...because he played 4th line on Carolina.

Looks like Sens are making a nice push....something will happen with Lazar.

They need to make a push if they want to hold on.

Only 2pts over Bruins. One game in hand but they don't hold the tie-braker. They have 9 home games and 12 away.

Bruins have 13 home and 7 away.

So they add him on the LW 4th line and Burrows on the RW 3rd line?

Buying Bruins villains.

Sens always seem to do this come playoffs...they try to acquire lower end talent to make them harder to place against.

Somehow Ottawa will play Toronto in the playoffs and lose again lol.

I still think Belesky would be a nice player if we make the playoffs, but we have to address our 3rd line. If Pasta or Backes get hurt, we're in trouble.

Sens will make the playoffs...they are on pace for 99 points; last few years 93 points is the starting point for playoffs.

Ottawa has a great chance to win the division with the way Anderson has been playing.

I don't feel like I watch him enough. The Detroit fans are jumping for joy that it was an overpayment. Of course, we all know how we fans overreact to hot and cold streaks and don't look at the big picture.

(remember how it was an obvious point here that Sacco was garbage and the PP was all his fault?)

Couple years back when Bruins played Wings in playoffs Smith was a beast in that series .I like the move for Rangers .Young still and mobile and has an edge to his game

And yet ironic they trying to push while Sweeney stands pat. :sarcasm:I am ok though seeing what we have in system.

So the Senators are doing exactly what the Bruins did last year (with much disdain IIRC) and they are good moves?

I think the difference is the Senators aren't relying on Burrows or Stalberg to be difference makers...Stemp was on a different level and we had him plugged in on our top line.

Sens are just filling out there bottom 6 as those had holes..

Same.

Also the reason I don't mind moving the 1st this year at all, especially paired with the fact that the Bruins drafted 5 times in the last two 1st rounds and still have all those prospects in the system.

Teams in our division keep upping the ante. Some in smaller increments than others.

I'm not exactly shaking over Sens moves

They likely got bent over long term on the Vancouver deal and Stalberg is like eating a Salisbury steak TV dinner
