I think they are looking at Sharp. Do we really believe Sweeney and Neely (who need the playoffs) want Jimmy Hayes or Riley Nash in their top 9?

I think they're looking at the team they play in 2 days more than anything.

ps, FWIW Evander Kane is 'apparently' in play according to, you guessed it (Eklund) so its probably BS BUT a Buffalo beat reporter said the phones 'arent ringing off the hook for Kane" but hes IN play. So theres that. Dunno if i'd take him on this team really. Not for what Buffalo will probably want (the world)

Hayes is a fine 3rd line winger under Cassidy. Just like he was under Gallant. And Nash is getting healthy scratched even before Czarnik is back. Have to think he'll be the 14th forward when we're healthy.

I would hope DS at least moves Moore or Lies if he gets any offers. But I really like the young talent he has and think this team will be young and contenders in the next few years

So when do you beleive they will win the cup....

I have two serious bets on the Bruins for the Cup and put $35.00 down today on the 35-1 odds on the Bruins winning it this year. Longshot of course, but when the adds get that long and the Atlantic is that open you put some money down and hope Sweeney finally addresses 1-2 of those holes while the Atlantic is weak.

This time next year, Buffalo, Florida and especially Toronto will be even stronger and the Bruins core will be even older.

With this core.. this year or the next one. I would also bet a longshot on Bruins this year.

This is the most backwards thing. WHY trade all these pieces last year for a rental? The FO says one thing and then does the complete opposite. DS has been saying for a couple years now that they are building for the future, but then does what he did last year which made no sense at the time. They need to pick a direction and go with. Maybe if they hadn't traded all those assets, or traded Loui, they have enough to get Landeskog without giving up McAvoy/Carlo. Maybe they have the LHD of the future. Just makes no sense to me.

They should have traded Loui before Ladd was traded to Chicago. He needed to go early to get top value but they waited too long then found themselves with offers worse than what they had previous and didnt pull the trigger. Then we lost him for nothing. Which is inexcusable. DS has made some serious **** ups since taking over.

The best move would be to move the non future players.
Move Moore, Liles, Hayes,Beleskey, Nash, Czarnick, Morrow, Blidth, etc.

Sitting on your hands does nothing. get some assets so you can use them and get a chance to bring in an impact player. It's not rocket science.

Or you could keep those guys as depth for your playoff push.

How about Johnny Oduya? I would really like Brendan Smith from Detroit. Good skater who is solid in his own end who can make athletic physical plays. Huge upgrade over K. Miller on the 3rd pairing.

Chara Carlo
Krug Mcquaid
Smith C. Miller

Wouldn't mind keeping Smith too if it could be done. Eklund is reporting that Smith is close to the Rangers though...

Smith is a guy I would target .He is a UFA seasons end.Might get him cheap.

The Statement by the owner who said he expects the team to go far in the playoffs were absurd. We have a lot of young talented defenseman and forwards who they need to see what they can do within the next few years

This. I don't understand how anyone can advocate trading those guys but also making moves for depth at the deadline...that's completely counterproductive.

The Bruins don't need depth. They need one or two solid players, but those will cost real assets. We've already seen what trading real assets at the deadline will get us, and it makes no sense to move those assets for a half-hearted push to be eliminated in the first round. It just isn't worth it.

Make a run with what you have unless you can negotiate a fair hockey trade at the deadline (not sure that's ever even been done). Don't sell assets for players that won't actually help us win anything.

They've lowered Morrow's value to nearly nothing. Julien put him in pergatory for so long that IMO nobody is going to give anything of any value at this point. POOR asset management, it's called Bruins!:help:
Regarding Blidh and Czarnik, I think it's a bit too soon to sign off on these two without it being a fair-value payback. The rest though, they need to do what they need to do. Draft picks are obviously most valuable at draft time, especially when you don't have your own 2nd, 3rd, 5th round picks this year.

For sure, I like Smith too but being that he plays for Detroit I don't think it would happen except for a big overpayment.

I like Brendan Smith (doubt Detroit would send him to us without an overpayment) but don't know much about Kyle Quincey, would he be an upgrade on McQ, Kevan M?
Also curious about opinions here on Michael Del Zotto and Dmitri Kulikov (poor +/- and all).

Quincey is a 3rd pairing guy just like Kevan. I'd prefer the one who knows this system best, that the guys who are already here.

Kulikov is having a lousy season after that freak accident falling into an open bench door. I'd stay away.

Del Zotto is the best option of the bunch. I've never thought about him as he's on a team still battling for a spot. I guess if the price was right.

You can build for the future while playing for the present. Last year at this time, we were making a push for first place and got there. He made a couple of deals to try and help cement that and advance into the playoffs and it didn't work out. It happens. But he didn't give away any pieces that are integral to the future of the team, which is key and in step with the end game goal for Sweeney, which is a pro system filled with fast, puck hungry, skilled guys who can play with jam that want to be here.

YES! ^^^ THIS ^^^ We should be able to walk and chew gum at the same time. The only thing I would add is we can deal from our future when dealing from positions of surplus.
