Heinen, Cehlarik, and conditional 2nd (moves to 1st if re-signed) for Kreider (50% retained)

Marchy/Bergy/Pasta
Kreider/Krejci/Kuhlman
JDB/Coyle/Bjork
Nords/Kuraly/Wags
-Lindholm/Blidh/Senyshyn/Frederic/Stud

Chara/McAvoy
Krug/Carlo
Gryz/Cliffy
-Lauzon/Moore/Miller(?)/Kampfer

This is the best proposal I've seen for Kreider.

Cost? Well, that's tricky as Nashville traded a young top-nine forward for him in Fiala.
That was then. They also traded a 1st for Ryan Hartman and were lucky to salvage anything for him a year later.

The big problem is they're 12th in points but 8th in goal differential, and what if they sneak into the playoffs and Rinne gets hot...

I'd rather trade them John Moore for one of their surplus of 2020 picks.

how are we signing kreider back next year? Hes going to be commanding 7m+ a year. Do we really want to move heinen who is under control for next year at $2.8m for a couple months of kreider, then have two holes in the lineup with kreider and heinen gone?

Yes, I like many others don't see Heinen as much of a loss, addition by subtraction if you may. Who knows if we would sign Kreider, a lot can happen in the off-season.

since entering the league heinen ranks first in the nhl in goals against/60 and 4th in the nhl during that span in goals for to goals against ratio.

hes an amazing shot suppressing forward who has averaged .48 points per game as a 3rd liner.

if you consider that addition by subtraction that is very interesting.

Kreider house 20 miles up route 1 to Garden

he’s the one rental that I’d think can be resigned

not sure why Rangers just don’t sign him

not a lot of miles on him - he wasn’t playing 200 games a year as a kid

he’s getting better and as a power forward I can see him producing 2-5 years past what others do

he’s a horse and a natural
Dan it sounds as though you favor Kreider over Palmieri. If you had your choice of only one to the Bruins, which one would you pick?

if the price were the same I believe everyone would pick kreider. If it’s the difference between a first round pick or a second round pick palmieri should be the choice.

Giving up a first for Palmeiri is a no brainer. Dude lives in Boston and connected to many bruins. He will resign after his contract is over. Not so sure about giving up a first for Kreider.

I wouldn't want to re-sign Palmieri after his current deal. He'll be 30, looking for a long-term contract and we've seen how quickly guys can go downhill in their 30's.

People talk about re-signing Krejci and it makes me very nervous. Like we suddenly forgot we have a $6m player sitting in the minors right now. Krejci will be 34 this season. Backes is 35.

As for Palmieri vs Kreider, IMHO they're both rentals, and even though KP comes with an extra year, that extra year is only relevant if you think Sweeney has a plan to free up $8 or $9m next year so he can bring everyone back and try again. If you think this season is our best shot, you do what it takes to get the player that can have the biggest impact this year.

To be honest, I'm not really sure who that is. I do think Kreider is the better player; he's bigger, faster, more physical, better production in the post-season... but as others* have pointed out, Palmieri is a better fit in the lineup 5on5 and has a better effect on line3. Can Kreider do more for PP1 than Palmieri could do for PP2? That might be the tie breaker for someone focusing on this year.

Yeah, i've brought him up a few times. He's like a higher end Johansson. He'd be a good pickup and has played more RW I think than Jojo has.

Between Grandlund, Kreider, Palmieri, Toffoli, and others Sweeney has got to make a significant move this year. The pieces are out there so there's no excuse for him to fall short.

Right, last year there was Mark Stone and then a pretty big gap to the rest. Mojo and Coyle were great acquisitions but this year there are a bunch of options. Of course he'll have to shed salary off the cap, he'll have to hold his nose and swallow hard at some point and give up a binky or two but that's what it's going to take.

I think you've got it flipped. Palmieri has another year at a reasonable cap hit, so if you're paying the same, you'd choose him 10/10 times.

I just think kreider is the better player to help win this year. Also bringing in palmieri would lead to cap issues next year but his deal next year would be less than what kreider will be to sign again. Still would lose players next year because we wouldn’t be able to fit all under the cap.

Why would GMs want to drive up the value of a possible trade option down the road in a deep draft, by saying their first is available?

I don't think too many want to deal this years first, so their not going to come out and say its available, and I really don't see GMs sharing their true motives/plans with even the big 4.

I know McKenzie,Dreger Friedman and lebrun, seem to get the scoop in advance of others, but even those guys as highly respected as they maybe,no GM is willing to spill his true intentions.

I did notice TSN had Carolina's first round pick being available, but my guess is their looking for a Hamilton replacement.

Who said anything about GM's?????????? I said the experts.

Even Bob said Kreider may be the only one to garner a first and that's only because there will be a lot of teams competing for his services.

If Heinen is holding up a deal of any kind for Kreider this year Sweeney should be fired into the sun.

Worry about next year after this one is done. This club has 2 years max left in it before the wheels fall off.

how would we afford to re-sign him though? He’s going to be asking for a contract in the $7m AAV range. Would almost automatically mean we don’t sign krug unless we give up serious draft capital to move backes.

Or we move Krejci's last year of his deal at the draft and give the #3C job to the winner of Stud and Frederic...

Sorry. I guess I thought by you saying experts as in DKH, Dreger, Bob and Company, that they had some inside info from the ones who actually makes the final decisions, the GM's. :)

I agree I think the rags will end up getting a future 2020 first for Kreider, I just hope its not the Bruins unless its a conditional, on him signing.
