Haggis (auto correct takes a pretty appropriate artistic license) on the Bruins shopping Spooner

Here are some trades involving Spooner that I would like to see happen:

1) NYI - we trade Spooner / Hayes, and one of Debrusk , Zboril, we get, Michael Dalcolle and Strome.

2) San Jose - we trade Spooner for first round pick and Timo Meier

3) Carolina - we trade Spooner for Vicktor Stalberg, Roland McKeown and a second round pick.

Thanks for the link.

So Sharks, Hurricanes, and Islanders huh. I guess we know what the Bruins are targeting:
According to one source, the Bruins are asking for a “top six forward†in exchange for a package including Spooner, and it’s a lead pipe certainty they’re looking for some goal-scoring given their 24th ranked offense this season.

You keep typing Spooner but I think you mean Pastrnak because that's the only way any of these work.

I don't get it...isn't Spooner something the bruins desperately need. Speed and creativity with potential for scorning? Who could they possible bring in that can replace Spooner? Better be good.

The only deal I see there that is massively unrealistic is the SJ deal.

The NYI deal is fair. They have the same issues with Strome that Boston are having with Spooner. I'd argue right now Spooner is the better player. The swap of Debrusk for Del Colle evens it out, fair deal for both sides.

Nothing uneven about the Carolina deal either.

How hard is it to replace that speed and scoring when it's on the 4th line at under 10 mins per game?

Lot's of "grass is greener" in that comment.

As usual, Bruins fans vastly overrate other teams prospects.

So you want a forward who is performing BETTER than Spooner, a very good D prospect and a 2nd round pick for Spooner? Good luck with that.

Not sure how Spooner gets you more goal scoring unless you add in a 1st round pick.

From the artivle:

"According to one source, the Bruins are asking for a “top six forward†in exchange for a package including Spooner, and it’s a lead pipe certainty they’re looking for some goal-scoring given their 24th ranked offense this season. "

I don't see it Wally.

Spooner/Debrusk is a fair swap for Strome (who has actually been worse for NYI and doesn't project to be a star anymore) and Del Colle, whose a solid 1st rd. prospect but so is Debrusk. Essentially a swap of Boston problem child (Spooner) for NY problem child (Strome).

Carolina deal, a journeyman winger in Stalberg, a B-grade prospect in McKeown, and a pick. Maybe the Bruins add a bit to Spooner but not much.

The SJ deal is pretty bad though.

Yeah, I read that. Is this season worth giving up a 1st round pick for?

Spooner is a center. That's where he's comfortable. Julien wants a defensive guru at center, Spooner isn't that guy. I fully expect Spooner to score 60+ points regularly on another team. Doesn't mean he's going to win Cups.

The speculation in the article suggests that the talks are about top 6 help, ie: immediate help and not prospects.

I don't agree with how Spooner is being used but if that is how Julien is going to use him, then better off trying to find someone who Julien will use.

Anton Blidh is in better graces with Julien after one game than Spooner has been his entire career in Boston.

Stalberg is a journeyman dime-a-dozen winger.

True, but Spooner isn't exactly lighting it up either. He has 1 good season on the PP. Stalberg at least can play the PK and is out scoring Spooner this year. So asking for Stalberg, + McKeown (who the Cane are high on) and a 2nd is, well, ridiculous.

Any team trading for Spooner isn't doing it based on his production this season, cause if they are, he has minimal value. They are doing so because they think he's closer to the player we seen last January than what he's shown this season.

I'm sure the Canes like McKeown, but let's not act like he's some blue-chip future star prospect either. And the Canes are already fairly deep at the defensive prospect position.

Considering what 2nd rd. picks go for nowadays, there isn't massive value there. Bruins traded 2nd + just to rent your own Lee Stempniak last year.

I actually think Spooner would do quite well in Carolina and you wouldn't miss any of the assets mentioned above.

I guess I dont hold him to the value as some here. Thats ok.

To me one trick pony. Id take what I could get.

Not to you but another point the ' but hes a center' ..lI say 'yes'. ... but only offensively. Otherwise he blows chunks at this level defensively. And like it or not there are systems and reads at play. Here or any other team. This isnt pond or beer league chase the puck level.
We're not talking Selke either. We're talkig defensively aware and knowing your assignment.

Hes one of two things either too stupid or too lazy to fo it.

Then beyond that he is terrible on faceoffs.

I have lttle use for him except as a piece to make this team better now today or in the future(pick).

The problem is he has only shown he is capable of using that speed and creativity when he plays center, and it sure seems the coach believes his defensive liabilities at center outweigh the potential offense he can bring in
