There's no point in even keeping this thread open until he actually starts to produce, there's really nothing to discuss at this point, he's just a guy. Nothing about him will change, he's been the same player regardless of coach/line/whatever other excuses we've made for him. Chalk it up to bad luck, generational bust.

If he doesn't increase his shooting activity he will miss out on many assists. Many assists come off rebounds. Trying to stay hopeful. If Im the coaches Id be pleading for him to find 3 shots a game.

He looked completely loss against Nashville.

He was always on the left board in the neutral zone. You could see Panarin confused as to his location several times.

Dude just doesn't have the brain clock speed to play out of position.

He is barely an NHLer. And worst of all, when he doesn't show up on the score sheet, he brings absolutely nothing to the table. If he can't be a top 6 player, he needs to sit.

Please trade him. He is still having some values.
I did not see anything good about him!

Even if the organization shares your evaluation I'd rather find a way to get him some cheap points. Find a way to build his stat sheet to raise his trade value. Just takes 1 GM to think we can turn this guy in to the #1 pick we thought he would be and make a trade for him.

I'm not saying that is what will happen but I don't want to lower his value if he is not going to be here long term. Im still hoping something clicks and he can be the guy we dreamed of but I totally understand your concerns.

Here
Call me crazy but I actually thought he looked a little faster last night

However, it doesnt really matter when you get lost in the play so easily.

Watching and waiting for him to produce an offensive chance is like watching a Plinko disc fall into the $10,000 bucket.

The perfect confluence of events have to take place for it to happen and it really relies on the other team making mistakes rather than what hes capable of generating on his own.

Its becoming easier to give up hope and its really f***ing sad. Its obvious he just doesn't have it.

Yeah, I think I'm ready to move on. Trade him for the highest pick or best prospect in a swap at this point.

Being a fan of this team is hell.
Nothing to be embarrassed by. We made the consensus $1 pick. It wasn't a reach. If we are ever going to entertain a trade I would start contacting teams about their guys and let (hope) those teams ask for Laf. I would not bring him up. I also would wait till Laf hits a bit of a goal or point streak. If we are going to sell I would try to sell on a high.

His first camp I said his skating would hold him back from really being impactful. I was told that was "lazy analysis" by uninstalled and others. I said he was an effort skater the likes of taveras when he came into the league or even fox for that matter but taveras improved his skating immensely and Fox has off the charts hockey sense and a head fake from hell. There is no fluidity to laffys game whether it's skating, stick handling, shooting, passing, or whatever. His game is very Rigid and a lot of it is based on his skating and balance. It sucks to see but it hasn't really changed either.

He and Kakko need a full season playing on the 1st or 2nd line and PP. If we dont see marked offensive improvement by the end of this season, then we can accept the reality of them busting. But I want to give them both this season to at least show signs of being capable of handling their own as a Top 6 forward.

What if Laf’s parents are like evil, crazy folks who forged his birth certificate and convinced him he was 9 when he was like 14 and the reason he dominated juniors and had a full beard as a 17 year old is because he’s actually like 27 years old right now. And that’s why he’s so bad. He was actually like 23 at the WJC.

We need to stop wishing that this pipe dream will happen. We will not consistently see Laf on the first line or PP1 until we wholesale sell our vets and their contracts, resign to being a horrible team as the 20-something year olds "develop", and waste what could be the best years of Shesty's career. Laf played less than 13 mins last game. If you think Lav is just going to blindly throw minutes and topline spots to Laf then I think you'll be disappointed going forward.

I've been making Danny Almonte jokes with Laf for years.

You could give me a polygraph test and I’d tell you I believe this and pass. Wonder if this ended up being proven in a court of law, we could get compensation via another 1st overall pick? Knowing our luck it’ll be this year for Celebrini though, who looks like a Laf clone. We should wait for a couple years before exposing Laf & his parents for the frauds they are. Maybe Ranger fans can even file a class action lawsuit and garnish his wages and have them distributed to fans as a sort of reparations.

very very good point. if you bring his name up the gm on the other side of the phone call will put you on hold and laugh his ass off for 5 fill minutes. and you would do the exact same thing if the situation was reversed.

just be happy to get a refund for his signed jersey if you can and have one of those. they can no longer be regarded as future worthy memorabilia to be sold for hundreds of dollars. maybe way better luck if you substitute the dollar with say turkish lira.

This is more plausible than Laf becoming a top 6 forward.
