Id ask for Owen Beck, Othmann’s former teammate in juniors and Arber Xhekaj
Beck, yes...but X is not going anywhere. His value is much higher then it should because everyone is a foot taller with him around. Plus he's getting better and better with a ceiling to be a legitimate top 4 on any team. Besides already the league heavyweight.

Him and Mailman (Mailioux) are going to be frightening...

I mean, he's already surpassed Yak's highest total, so possibly "worst since," but certainly not worst ever.

"He's a three year pro who has been given plenty of opportunity from the Rangers since the moment he was drafted 1st overall." Really? PLENTY of opportunity?
Points through their first 216 NHL games:
Yakupov: 101
Lafreniere: 91

There was also 3.18 goals per game this season, the highest of those Yakupov seasons was 2.74

And time to use the ignore feature on this site...

Reading old threads about this guy is absolutely depressing.
Why get depressed? You are not responsible for his decisions.

I thought that Komisarek was going to be the Beast of the East..turned out to be that he needed a wee gee board to figure out what was going on.

I wrote...."they are going to bring him in a cage to the various arenas". Turns out they just put a bell on him when he got lost on the ice.

Whoever said either of those things was an outlier, and batshit crazy. Laf was supposed to be at or a bit below the McKinnon tier. A tier he may yet reach, though I wouldn't bet the house on it.

Whoever they are they weren’t remotely alone.

I agree. I believe saw a talking head (or two) say Laf could get 70 points as a rookie but I never saw anyone say he would be a McDavid. I would never have put him in a McKinnon tier either just because they are such different players. The one thing I would like to see again was the lottery night. I want to see who said what during that program. I think somebody asked Laf about skating concerns. I think Laf laughed off those concerns off saying "I can skate" but I do not trust my own memory so if anyone has a link to that lottery night please post it.

With all due respect, I genuinely do not know how anyone who watches hockey could say that Lafreniere may still reach MacKinnon or a bit below level in good faith. His last 6 straight seasons have been on pace for over 100 points and 4 of the 6 have been between 93 and 100. I doubt Laf ever hits 75, and that is a far cry from “a bit below” 100. Again, I say it with all due respect but I have no idea how someone can have watched him these 3 years and genuinely say they think he could still reach MacKinnon’s level. You really think Laf can get into the discussion for top 5 forwards in the league? Top 10? I don’t think he’ll ever even enter the conversation for top 50. Probably not even top 100.

To be fair, everyone thought this.

When the whole world gets it wrong, most of the blame falls on the player for not delivering.

We just need can't miss blue-chip superstar finnish winger of similar age to play with him!
